Hey there!
New here.

Cool thing you're doing with the doc. Thank you for that!
Just discovered it through the latest update of GOG 2nd Class Helper firefox add-on which now includes a lookup of this doc.

Question/Suggestion:

Could you include a column for something like "In-Game Achievements" in the doc? It could be differentiated by "per profile" or "global" or "none" or something like that.

My reasoning:

It still sucks that these don't have outside support as they do in launchers or profile pages of the competition!

But at least it would kinda separate the games and devs who do the bare minimum by putting achievements in-game
( + with profiles you can have different people playing or different playthroughs where you did better or worse)
from those that didn't even bother to do something that could be enjoyed even without platform DRM and not porting achievement support over while taking advantage of a different customer base and often times having a higher price point on GOG.

It's still bad, this way, but not the worst thing you can do in terms of achievements for your game... which is not putting any thought into it and not caring at all about paying customers in that regard, by only using one platform for them and ignoring others, if you get what I'm trying to say here.

In-game achievements are, by their nature, platform-independent which is one of the points of GOG (even if it's not what the whole thing here is about).

(possible stupid thought incoming: ) I'm not a game dev but I would imagine it would be easier to get them into Galaxy when you already have the triggers in the game that unlock something and not having to go back for every platform to see how you would trigger this or that achievement for a different platform. So maaayybeee also a good path for devs to follow in general so that porting achievements to other platforms is faster to do...?? (dunno, just a thought)

And before anyone tries that:
No, I don't think they would be able to use this as an excuse not to implement the feature (leading to no easy bragging rights, no good documentation of your gaming history, no customized profile building etc. when there's nothing on the platform itself), since those are very different things.
But so are in-game achievements vs none at all.

So, it would be really nice to be able to easily see those differences.
Thanks for reading!

Hello!

First of all, thank you for the compliments, I didn't know that the doc was added to the Firefox add-on, glad that it can be even more widespread, and maybe help to improve the situation for the missing achievements.

I agree that in-game Achievements, combined with those on Galaxy would represent perfection in a game, combining the DRM-free aspect with that of a profile that collects those from all games.

Your idea is interesting, but a bit out of the original scope of my list. Also there would be some problems, such as that many games with Galaxy achievements also have in-game achievements, so they aren't in my list and I'd have to add them, perhaps creating more confusion.

But in your help there is another thread that lists just what you are asking for, maintained by MarkoH01:
List with GOG Games that have In-game achievements V2

There is also the fact that to find out whether a game has in-game achievements you almost always have to play it, so it takes all the help you can get.

Thank you for answering!

I think you're right, this is out of scope.

If there wasn't anything like the doc in the thread you linked, imo, it could be a good option.
But this way, one can actually get everything I was wishing for by searching two docs, which is absolutely fine.

One could find out if a game has in-game achievements from other users and screenshots but I get the point. It would be more work than playing them, so if there's not enough people sharing the info without being asked, it's a lot of work and/or money.

I voted for everything you listed in the original thread.
Usually, I don't get into games until they're old and cheaper but if I find myself playing something that has achievements on steam or epic (but not on GOG) and isn't in the doc, I'll report it to GOG and the game's customer support and also check the doc and point it out here if it's not on there.

Anyway, thanks again for doing this!

Skargoth: Achievements for Apocalipsis: Wormwood Edition have partially stopped working. I have tried multiple times to unlock "Magic", but it doesn't work. Unlock rate is considerably lower than on Steam. This is also the case for quite a few of the other achievements.
Yeah sadly for Apocalipsis some achievements are still broken. Mostly story-related, for the main game. For me the ones that won't unlock are:

"Magic: Perform the Ritual"
"The End?: Finish the Game"
"True Ending: Break the Mirror"

"Soldier: Never Miss Your Target" was initially buggy for me, but after my save was mysteriously wiped I was able to get it after replaying the level. I replayed several times before but never unlock.
Forgive Me Father 2 can be removed from the list. All 32 Galaxy achievements are available.

I must have written this already, but it's very strange because I and three other friends completed the game without any problems a few years ago. In the meantime the game hasn't received any updates so the situation shouldn't have changed.

Maybe some games have some kind of weak implementation of the achievements, and if at the time when the achievement should unlock there is some temporary bug in the Galaxy servers, it gets stuck. The only thing I can recommend is to delete all traces of the saves, down to possible data in the registry or Galaxy directory, and try again to unlock them. Or more simply try on a different computer and disabling cloud saves.

I also encountered this problem today and find out your post here so I tried to look into it. Since the game is developed in unity, it is fairly easy nowadays to decript (most of) the source code using other software. The coding in this game is really poor and basically the programmer who wrote it ignored any Delta.Time scripts ( in other words the scripting in this game is frame rate dependant). So basically this means if your computer is fast enough it will trigger the achievement before you actually have all requirements and thus resulting in fail.

The workaround for this is to manually slow the game using some third party software (at least that worked for me).

A Night at the Watermill does have working Galaxy achievements, however the Galaxy files are in the wrong directory from the default installation. You need to go to the \A Night at the Watermill\game\ directory and move GalaxyConfig.json to the base directory \A Night at the Watermill\ and move Galaxy64.dll to \A Night at the Watermill\lib\py3-windows-x86_64\

Great, that explains some of the oddities I had noticed, thanks!

By the way, since you're so familiar with these things, have you ever tried looking at Whispering Willows?

The game has non-functioning achievements and seems to be without the necessary Galaxy files, but the unlock percentages seemed to indicate that they were working. Also, I reported the problem to the publisher who told me that from their tests they were working correctly and I could never come to any conclusions.

The Crow's Eye may have the same problem.

I know of the problems with these two and I took a look before, but usually I only figure out a solution after some 'eureka' moment comes to me, so we'll see if/when that happens. :)

Thank you in any case, perhaps I have already mentioned it, being a problem that continues to haunt me for a loooong time. XD
Mafia Definitive edition has busted achievements. Played for 2hours and about 5 missions and I noticed that I'm still at 0%

The user A.M.R. managed to unlock the achievements of Mafia: Definitive Edition using the old Galaxy 1.2.

I don't know how to explain it, but it's worth a try if you want the achievements. Here is a simple guide to install the old Galaxy version and prevent it from updating automatically:
