It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I resent having you stream advertisements on my PC. I understand you need to advertise your products but this is unacceptable. I dont use any of the other PC platforms that do this and I really really would love to play some of the games only available through them. I have zero tolerance for stealing my bandwidth to advertise however. Is there a setting to shut this down from my end without uninstalling your products? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I totally understand where you are coming from, but I use four different platforms, and they all stream advertising.

Exactly where would you suggest we go to avoid them?

Serious question. I'd love to know because I hate them too.

If you're complaining about picture ads in galaxy then why worry? They don't use THAT much bandwidth.
Perhaps the advertisements could be made to be optional?

Just remember that the Galaxy client itself is an optional client.

You can also install the games directly without using Galaxy if you wish.
(Which is one of my favorite things about GOG.)

There are ads in Galaxy?

I am not aware personally, but i'm guessing that's what op meant...and as I have seen/experienced ads(picture ads) in browsers/clients before with little resource usage I feel they are not such a big deal(resourcewise). Well, not unless you have a dinosaur PC from the late 90's somehow running modern browsers/etc till today as your main machine.
I was really disappointed when I actually read the OP. From the title I thought this was going to be about some business hiring actors to act out an advertisement in real life somewhere. Which could have been really interesting.

On the GOG Galaxy page in the "Common questions" section 13. "Is GOG Galaxy truly optional?" it says the following:

= = = = = = =
GOG Galaxy is fully optional because you don’t need it to play games on GOG.com. If you want to, you can simply download your game via your browser, install it manually, and launch it offline, just like we've always done it on GOG.com. If you decide to use GOG Galaxy for some aspects of the convenience, you can still switch to offline mode at whim and play your games. Optional also means that all features in GOG Galaxy can be turned off. Not a fan of achievements or auto-updates? No problem, they're extras.
= = = = = = =

So if you can't find an option to disable it in one of the setting menus I'd suggest sending GOG support a message about it.

They may be willing to add that ability to a future version of the Galaxy client if it is not already present.

That's an interesting prospect. I wonder which famous people could be hired to make a big enough advertisement splash to give GOG more attention in the market. George Clooney perhaps? He could drink Nescafe while downloading a DRM-free game! XD

Gal Gadot playing a GOG DRM-Free game on her iPhone, while advertising Huawei's phones. ;)
