Blue Bottle Games Developer (self published).
I'm pretty sure Atari is French. Used to be Infogrames until they bought the name. Like how 3D Realms is Danish now.

EDIT: But I'll play along anyway.

Electronic Arts
Bethesda
2K Games (and for that matter, Take-Two and their subsidiaries, like Private Division)

Thank you for adding!
I knew Atari and Infogrames but missed the part when the two become one in France. Hey! That's somewhat romantic. Now you see how much this thread needs you.
Obsidian (however some of their publishers, such as Paradox are not)
ConcernedApe
Activision
Apogee
BioWare
Blizzard
Firaxis
MicroProse
Supergiant
Spiderweb
Westwood
Sierra
tinyBuild
Maxis
Interplay

Origin Systems

Also some of these companies are now defunct, where their game library just exist as property of someone else.

Oh and here's an interesting one for you: New World Computing was a US company that eventually got sold to 3DO (also a US company) but when 3DO ran into financial issues, they sold New World Computing to Ubisoft (French) before closing up.

This means that:

Might and Magic 1-9: US (now French owned)
Heroes of Might and Magic 1-4: US (now French owned)

Might and Magic 10: French
Heroes of Might and Magi 5-7: French
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: French
Might & Magic Clash of Heroes: French

You also have cases like Chillingo, which is based out of the UK, but is owned by Electronic Arts (US.)

As for why I know some much about this stuff, I used to work for the Borg.
Thank you for sharing with us! truly

I`m 99% sure this Studio https://www.gog.com/en/games?developers=shining-rock-software is American (US.)

If it's a Big Project, we need to be specific :)

Dear Seb, could you clarify some moments for establishing the scope of the work:
1) Are active publishers eligible only or defunct ones count too?
2) Can be self-published indy developers (even with just one game) considered as "publishers" or not?
Ziggurat Interactive (I believe they're based in Colorado with what info I could skim)
Disney has some games on GOG
Warner Bros. too
Telltale Games changed hands but they're still based in California
Epic Games
New Blood Interactive
Kyoudai Games, despite the name, is based in Tennessee and currently publish Thunderscape and Entomorph on GOG
Spiderweb Software
Retroism through Tommo Inc

Is there a reason for the focus on US based pubs and devs, if you don't mind me asking?

Dear Action_Fan,
1) Like with 3DO and Ubisoft, for the matter of history let us mention the original one too! ^
2) For short Yes! For a long, one game can be good enough for a good name. (my opinion might not matter much : )

Thank You! Yes, there is. Many reasons. I believe in local cultures. Culture for me is everything local: music, videos, books, food, herbs and spices, alcohol, dance, houses(style), clothes, paints, sculptures, language, animals, plants, weather, stars, legends, myths, stories, religion, law, people`s appearance, transport, agriculture, industry, army, space technology, athletes, sex, and...video games! : ) It happened to me to be a philosopher and I am interested in all of this and more. Local. It is not even a country thing, it is a local area with distinct taste thing, yet those areas often have flags...BUT...flag suppose to mean all of the above and more and not the army only or a bussiness only... Local cultures are what we need, to have a choice in the future, we need to protect local cultures, including multination cities that are cultured on their terms. and I like a face of this man : )
The USA as a country has its right to its culture. Even knowing my help in protecting US culture might be insignificant, I have learned over time enough to respect the local culture and tradition of even such a young country like the United States where (today) technology and multicultural (in most regions) nations are doing something simply... together.
Nobody is writing my speeches xD There are places in the US known to me for their ....local taste...all around West North East South...and I am sorry for bringing down any supporters of any sides in any country but I am an apolitical animal... I simply like you all...and all of you have or had families or friends in the United States including myself.

Maybe it`s all clear or maybe I smoke my speeching, I`ve been in a few places before and this is far from preaching,
The Games come from places and have a local taste, have a look you are safe, please protect the space!
All cultures all tastes! Unesco style ^ Olimpic games style... or something like that.

I could mention "Never Alone" as a game that is made, in part, by some Alaska Natives (specifically, Iñupiat). It might not be the sort of thing that comes to mind when you see USA, but the game would technically qualify.

https://www.gog.com/en/game/never_alone_arctic_collection

The company cited as the developer is Upper One Games, which appears to be located in Alaska (and is apparently Native owned).

Are there any other GOG games made by Native Americans? Perhaps one from Hawaii?
But do videogames reflect "national cultures" (provided there's even such a thing), or are they products of a cross-national geek culture that transcends regionalisms ? We've heard of the "french touch" (wacky surreal lateral gameplays?) and there's the occasional folklore-based setting (when it's not pure exoticism) but is it truly representative, and do these lists really make common traits and patterns of difference emerge ?

Or do these lists precisely show that, if you weren't making them and checking out the origins of the designers to that purpose, you wouldn't be able too tell them apart, to assign them "culturally", based on their own contents ?
