Hi everyone! I know times are dark.... the coronavirus is spreading fast everywhere. To me it all seemed far away. October last year, me and my brother started our business . Things were looking good, we sell photovoltaic generator kits... , the market was getting hot, many people liked the idea of having solar energy in their home.To me it was like a dream, I was finally working on something I liked...

And like a flash it all just vanished. The virus it's not just on the news, it's here in my little town, it's on the streets... it's everywhere. People started to get sick on cities that had no connections with the biggest states. We had to close everything until this is over... I had plans, like everyone else.... games are a important thing for me, in many situations it kept me going... I don't know if I'll be arround when some of the games I want will be released or if I will have the power to buy them, games like Cyberpunk 2077.

I'm home, only buying the basics to survive, like everyone else, but it's been hard to keep going, not knowing how much I can continue without work.... Sometimes I can't even concetrate to play something. I know this has nothing to do with gog, as the tittle says these are just some thoughts I had to share.

I hope from the bottom of my heart that everyone is healthy and safe.

I feel for you my friend.

There are many of us in similar positions... even though far geographically removed.

I wish that there was something to say that could change the situation or make it better, but we are all waiting and watching and hoping. So...

... take care...

... and wishing you well.

And I hope you will be as well(and that your business will survive and grow after all this). That said: stay safe and well, friend.

You just have to remember that it will get better, when we don’t know, but it will. Until then we just have to do what we can. Good luck with it all.

imho it will get worse
and some said it is just a normal flu
Thank you all for the answers, it's nice to hear from other people around the world. Like I said before I just had to get it out... I'll try to keep going no matter how hard. Maybe one day I can make another post when this is all over.

Eh, I think some are overstating it/overreacting to it, and some aren't taking it seriously enough.

Some(not in this thread, I mean in general) are taking it WAY too seriously, though.....almost as if it's the plague 2.0
As kay2 said, i feel you too. I perfectly understand your situation. After a very long period without a work and a lot of negative thoughts about my future, finally i found a new one in August of last year hoping that maybe I could have changed some aspects of my life I really need to change. The irony is that when I got how to bring these changes in my life, everthing stopped thanks to covid-19.

Same reflections I do.

Nothing to do with GOG or maybe everything. We are a community loving basically old games and even new ones, everyone facing this situation in every part of the world. And we have this huge forum to talk, read, laugh, play, and even sharing our experiences and thoughts in this "dark times" as you said.
Stay safe and I wish you well!

From what i see. The situation is way overblown. It's not nearly as bad as they are making it out to be.

Worse, if a shutdown lasts for very long, the economy will collapse, there will be no food/resources, and a large portion of the population in theory could starve (though it's possible canibalism and eating pets/animals may work for a time).

Remember, the government will kill far more of it's own people before a virus ever could. Don't believe me? China boasts killing 90+ million of their own people.

Just remember, you're on a nearly equal playing field. Everyone is suffering some, and we've all got to stay in. I hope you and all of us come out on the other side of this. Good luck and keep your chin up. The financial and mental stress issues with this are very real, but the top players only seem to be concerned with the medical implications. Hopefully we will all survive and have lives to go back to.

To me it seems to be worse than some are making it out to be(the ones who don't care whatsoever) and much less worse than some are making it out to be(the ones acting like it's black plague 2.0).

Both imo aren't handling it the way it should be handled.

Not so much the cannibalism, but this is what I worry about in part: That people could lose jobs/get desperate/etc due to the shutdowns.

Imo we should just isolate/issue the orders being given now to all in many areas just to the ones most affected by this, and(after another 2-3 weeks or so) let everyone else go back to their lives.

It's less that we could starve to death in the 2-6 weeks required to quarantine (or whatever length would be best). Years ago people had less than $400 to spend on emergencies and living paycheck to paycheck. People very quickly won't be able to pay their rent, much less food.

The economy also may not come back online again easily, small and medium sized businesses may have to close permanently, leaving possibly only large corporations left behind, which would leave a very unhealthy monopoly in it's place.

Some have called this a 'Socialism Trial', mandated on who can stay open who can't, who can work and who can't, and honestly this is hitting everyone harder than the 2008 and the 1920's stock market crash.

This really isn't sustainable.

I get all that and tbh I worry about some of that as well.

That said, NY state has issued a ban on evictions for at least 90 days & it's possible other states dis or will do so as well....so some will be safe for awhile at least, if that's any consolation.

As for people not saving: I read online of people going to food banks due to not having their next paycheck. At first I was more sad for them, but that sadness dropped a bit when I read that some of them had dual incomes and made 2000(after taxes) a week....I still feel for them, but if some of them went crazy and overspent that's somewhat thir fault.

Well there are small business loans under the plans laid out for the US, so hopefully some of them will be able to take advantage of that.

But yeah, I worry about some of my favorite businesses closing as well(and people being laid off).

Tbh I don't think this is worse than the 1920 crash(yet).

Agreed which is why I think we need to maybe keep it up at most another month......then isolate the most vulnerable from everyone else.

Heck, if we can isolate the entire country(and other countries) at home then we should be able to isolate the elderly/vulnerable.
