The Day After

I wish the case was a bit higher, i might put under some books under the feet case to gain some height. Weise and Hickman's Portal of Death serie is both in range and suitably titled to lift my case up into new heights. I'm pretty sure the increased height will optimalize the cooling capacity for the bottom half as well.

With that said, the new cooling capacity for my CPU is really worth noting. Even with normal use, the front wall of my previous Case, 'Silent base 601' would warm up considerable. The current top cover, where i have placed the CPU radiator is enginereered with cooling as one of its primary targets, of course, i can't speak for certain, my whole pc changed behavior and since i also changed components i of course can't be sure about what really happened, overnight.

What i do know is that, Distant Worlds 2, one of the titles i used to create a 'baseline of understanding' in gaming hardware specifics is reporting back different numbers. Before, i could not play without hitting max tdp (125W) on stock settings and now it barely reached 75W under full load. The utilization numbers changed as well, from a good 60 to 80% to stable on about 30% average. I did notice this behaviour before, with Velocity boost disabled, and an all P-core clock speed of max 5 GHZ

It would be nice to say that my new idea turned out great but, for now i can't confidently say that ... It actually did without being a heap of nice looking nonsense....

added some extra phtoo's from my shoes and the previous (Chaos) build

It sounds like load on the CPU was reduced but I don't understand why cooling would change that. I'm no technician though.

Yeah, hard to say. Build looks clean at least.
* possible changes observed so far between the old situation and the new one

CPU

- a slower fan response time towards peaks in power consumption possible resulting in different CPU behaviour
- Much higher cooling performance on static loads, for example previously at around a TDP of 70W heat would start to accumulate in such a fashion that unbearably loud fans would be needed to disperse heat, for now i went as high as an average of around 100W without ever noticing any change at all

GPU

- Cool Boi, had some extended periods of reaching 247W, my set max TDP for the GPU atm without ever hearing the GPU complain about 'heat'. Previously at around 180W without the back fan aimed at inlet (1a) and around 210W with the back fan aimed at inlet(1a). Max temperature measured during playthroughs in Forspoken and Veilguard 58 degrees C

* GPU heaven unigine Benchmark

About 15 mins on 430W and the fans could not be persuaded to run higher than 1400 RPM keeping the temperature the whole time under 70 degrees C

I am absolutely thrilled with this outcome!

The next test of time will be a personal one.

Will i stay green?!
* Christened my case with a blunt, named her "The Humbeldt" -eng-

- Decided to purchase an extra bag of cable combs }when i have money again
- Decided to put some more effort into cable management, i'm curious to see if the 3x8 cables would look more aesthetic pleasing when pulled together and maybe alligned more horizontally
- Decided to increase memory from 48 GB to 96 GB }when i have money again just for reasons....
- Atm the 4 'lightwings' are controlled through a fan hub, which does not appear anywhere. They do spin and are RGB synced, i think i missed a cable, going to look for that when my memory comes in }when i have money again fan speed actually is okay, especially for the GPU, but my smokin hot mistress does seem to require some more 'active cooling.... therefore i was thinking to at least connect the last rear and back fan to the motherboard, aimed at the CPU
-contemplating a little cute fanny placed somewhere in my cabletrain holder in the back of the case

* Challenged my build with several OC options

- Option 1. MSI motherboard overclock profile 1
- Option 2. MSI motherboard RAM overclock - XMP 2
- Option 3. MSI motherboard GameBoost
- Option 4. Intel Extreme Tuning Utility

All these options enabled provide

- + 0.2 on e-cores - Widening of limitations Turbo Boost (longer, higher wattage)
- + 3000 on Memory speed
- Not sure what it does, but it feels a bit like enabling windows extreme usage profile
- + 0.1 on p-cores - + 0.2 on cache frequency, removal of CPU soft limit TDP=70c

I'm sure there are a lot of changes i did not mention, such as several increases in voltage here and there

All seems to run stable but after a couple of days i began to get errors from the GPU.... Even had a automated bug response notification from Nvidia.... scary stuff !!

Everything is back on stock now.

There was some major issues with high clocked Intel CPU's on 13 and 14 gen supposedly because of silicon degradation, due the high voltages needed to sustain the very high clocks.

Newer CPU's, like yours seem to be safe but was funny because many people got graphic errors, wich at first seem unrelated. Back when overclock was fun and actually worthwhile, never saw a graphic error due to CPU overclocking. It shows how freaking complex are modern computer hardware and software, glad I don't understand a crap but pressing the power button actually works, just like magic :)

The only thing worthwile i think is the memory overclock, i did notice some irregularities in ME-A , after of course 'stock' set in, which might had to do something with the speed of memory
If you have to believe the talking heads then you know that this is both game dependant and CPU manufacturer dependant, since intel always come out as the one that needs high memory speed the least

I also remember vividly breaking my intel B board when the 3090Ti arrived on the scene, luckily i scored a next gen top tier Z board for cheap, i think my 10900k actually performed way better on that board, i might give that one a try too, the idea, atm i can't say i'm really happy with how the ACE performs, especially the suit..... Might even go with Aorus then... the Aorus master or something

Just be sure to update your motherboard to a recent bios
About halfway 2024 motherboard manufacturers release a bios to fix the powerlimits on intel 13th & 14th generation

It was a weird 'story' all in all. I'm glad most talking faces, Linus, Jayz2c those aussie guys, Steve ..... , and all those other hardware fanatics seem pretty okay in their 'influencer roles' Maybe there are others i never even heard off, equally popular that do not shy away from 'more' spice but yea....

Of course, you can't expect them to completely ignore such a thing...

So yea, guys..... Check your backgrounds!
