I've published this also on the wishlist page (https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/necrodome) ,though I think it can be posted here too ,so more people can try the game.(Do I violate some IP by posting this?)

I've tried a little bit to run the game and it looks it runs pretty good on modern machines (even compatibility mode is not needed). The only thing is that the in-game animations cannot be run - the game relies on repl.exe which cannot be run on 64bit machines. Also when Ive tested it on win7 the menus were with fucked up colors (though the game runs good).

Here are the files: * Mod Edit

Any ideas how I can run the animations (probably I can record them and use the more recent rad tools for smk files?Or if the game is ran through dosbox?)

The only thing added is dplay.dll (taken from here: * Mod Edit

The game itself I've downloaded *Mod Edit - Sorry, but sharing the download link isn't allowed!*
I've couldn't found information for any patches (there's one available for the demo version ,but not for the full version)
I've used some tool to convert the img file to iso ,but I can't remember which one (I still have the iso file if someone needs it).
Then the game can be installed on virtual machine (though playing it through virtual machine is pain in the ass).

Couldn't find a way for mouse aiming.

Though for render distance and mouse sensitivity I've set following values "MOUSE_SENSITIVITY 30" (which makes walking and turret aiming more easier) and "RENDERDIST 150" which removes the distance fog and is something that modern machines can handle . These values cannot be set through the UI.

Like most SSI published games from the era, the video is Smacker technology...which doesn't like 64 bit systems. Maybe you could try here http://www.radgametools.com/smkmain.htm to see if the RAD Tools can solve this, but probably not. I keep a 32 bit Win system on a separate boot HD just for older games like this. It all runs fine on 32 bit Vista for me.

I have the CDROM version and it just needed dplay.dll to get it working, like you said, since it's an old DirectX 2 game. Make the effort to get the CD audio working as well, it's worth it- SSI published games always seemed to have good CD audio.

I don't think the game supports mouse aim, it controls like Tomb Raider with keyboard- and suits it anyway since you're driving and not running most of the time.

I really like the game, it has great 2.5D graphics for the time and is a bit different. It was developed by Raven Software and I assume they hold the rights. But I doubt they have any interest in releasing the game on GOG, I think they're too busy with COD games to care.
OMG after seeing a few youtube videos of this game I wanna replay it so bad! I used to play the hell out of this game as a kid, but never actually finished it... Can anyone run it on Linux with WINE? Recently I had the experience of playing Delta Force 1 using WINE with mouse aim and windowed mode with the help of a program called DXWND, hope it works for Necrodome too!

It is illegal to share the game here. I'd suggest you remove the download links, though a blue will probably edit your post and remove them when they see this thread.

I had a great time with this game back in the day. Though I think I'd enjoy a remake, there's very little to it that isn't already done in a modern way by other games. I do remember the CGI videos to be very silly and unimportant stuff.

You tell him...he's likely been sitting there for over a year waiting to be told that...

Maybe you should remove the links from your message too (the part where you quoted his message)? Or was that intentional?

A good point. Totally forgot about that.

Don't worry, no one is being banned! Just be mindful not to share abandonware etc on the public forum. Discuss it all you wish, but no link posting!

A couple points:
* Shareware and abandonware are not the same thing, so lumping them together is not a good idea.
* Shareware is, in fact, legal to share (in fact, that's the whole point), so there should be no reason to ban it from these forums. (With that said, sharing the fully registered versions of such games, or the keys to register them, *is* illegal and should be forbidden.)

Incidentally, some of the games sold by GOG are actually registered versions of shareware games, including Doom, Crystal Caves, Tyrian 2000, and every Spiderweb Software game sold here.

(Note: I am not disputing the moderator's actions in this thread.)
Wow, for first time in ages is working and all needed was to copy dplay.dll from directx folder from game disc to game folder, very thanks!
Ok so I managed to run this game on my reaaally old Windows XP laptop. The game is lagging.. Not like stuttering but i think I experience a thing called input lag. If I press button to go forward, it reacts only after ~5-7 seconds. Same with all other buttons. Any Idea how to fix this?

--------EDIT
Ok, nevermind, all I had to do is launch with Win95 compatibility :D Wohoo!

Howdy! ;-)
Has anyone had any luck fixing mouse look? If I spin the mouse enough, it will slowly turn in a direction, but it's more of a "tick" in one direction, not a smooth turn.

Also, for some reason the camera is constantly turning to the right on my end, which makes the game a bit unplayable since I'm constantly fighting it with my arrow keys to try to correct my aim.

One more note: Add the game to DxWnd if you want widescreen resolutions/borderless windowed. Works flawlessly (it isn't what's causing the mouse/camera issues).
