Shmacky-McNuts: Ok boss, didnt think much of it. I wasnt tryin to be rude.
No prob then. Does grate on me though.
Imagine calling a guy (name of Christopher), CHRI...

Billy: Bi'
Harold: Ha'

...and so on

Edit: To be clear...
Sa-Chys
Two syllables. Second is not a "CH" sound in English.
Hope that makes more sense.

If it makes you feel any better, minus the concept of typos, I speak the same way in real life xD
I have memory problems and I know people for years and still forget their name. So even females get the Boss, Chief, etc. monikers lol

Ill probably get yours right though, since you pointed it out. On a side note, do you play Neo Scavenger?

Shmacky-McNuts: Appreciate the content :)
avatar
rjbuffchix: Disappointed to hear that about the reviews, but am not entirely surprised. The base game was my obsession for a month or two. The gameplay mechanics are totally on-point satisfying to me, but I ended up wishing there was more content. It was deflating once I realized I had visited all "Named" locations in the game, as there really aren't that many (imo, not meant as disrespect to the dev whatsoever). I wish I was more savvy about making my own content but hopefully the stuff in these mods will scratch some itches and give a fresh replay.

Shmacky-McNuts: Well, there is one town in the upper most left of the map. But what makes the MasterOverride/Allmod good, is the variety. I tend to play through it similar to challenge myself, how far I can get. Beating the game feels like an after thought xD
Learned something new, thanks :) I can't believe I missed this town, as at one point I was purposely exploring all over that area of the map, but I suppose I didn't go as far as needed.

I could try an online search, but since you're knowledgeable about the game, would you mind if I asked a question or two? I'm wondering what's the story on the developer?

It seems the Blue Bottle Games site has remained down, I know there was a loose(?) sequel to NeoScav called Ostranauts (but it's not on GOG), do you think there's a chance of Ostranauts getting a release here?
avatar
Shmacky-McNuts: On a side note, do you play Neo Scavenger?
Aye been playing since the demo days on Desura.
Also know Dan since then.
avatar
Shmacky-McNuts: Unlike other games, the mods for Neo Scav must be sewn in with text and with a lot of care not to break stuff.
Which is beyond my skill.
That's true of me too...I tried my damnedest to get my double-banishments from "The Glow" lifted, by editing multiple portions of relevant text, to no avail. I thought I followed the steps correctly, to the point I was trying to convince myself that surely something was wrong with the game, it couldn't possibly be my lack of skill XD

You are also more than welcome to answer my questions in post 18 about the possibility of getting more of his games here :)

I can answer that (there IS a thread here on it, but lost the bookmark somehow).

Dan IS interested in working with GOG again.

I think he stated something along the lines of (in that thread) that he'd rather release a complete product here (aside from any major content updates / additions).

I may be paraphrasing though.

Ostranauts isnt a sequel - it's a secondary game in the same universe (off-Earth - in-space).

I rather like it. It's also rather different in many ways. Good deal of engineering / science related focus.

Right now the release would be down to Kitfox games (the publisher now) I think - or at least mostly.

Dan the creator went with a publisher and didnt want to maintain his own site. Ostranauts is a space game that he has been working on for several years now.

I use to be on Blue Bottle forum and I spoke with the denizens there. Dan made a change to the game from a request once too. The little number showing up on stacked items, used to be hidden under the moving item. I asked if he could change the game to show the number in both the inventory and the stuff the player was moving. Kinda funny, because I didnt own the game when I asked him. I was watching youtube lets play videos and everyone was constantly wiggling the items to see the stack number underneath lol

Not true.
Website had an issue.
Died.
Couldn't recover it properly for some reason.
The emails still work (or worked last I checked).

Prior publisher (publisher when it happened) has nothing to do with that as far as I know.
Thank you both for the information and added context, I really appreciate it. Hopefully, Ostranauts shows up here someday. Honestly, NeoScav is one of those rare games for me to make a strong enough impression that I would want to buy more of the developer's work, even sight-unseen.

I think a drm free release on Itch is a likelihood down the line if nothing else.

Nice, very good to hear. Honestly, in recent years I've kinda preferred buying DRM-free games on other stores rather than on GOG, though I still like them to release on GOG anyway. And especially in the case of something like this where an earlier game by the dev is already here.

Just to follow up on this part of the game discussion, my earlier post about not being able to find the location makes more sense now...this location seems to be in Neo Scavenger Extended mod, but not in the vanilla/base game.

On a similar note, man do I wish this game were more modder-friendly. Depending on how it is made (if it ends up being made), I hope a Neo Scavenger 2 would have an editor program for us to easily create locations/story/etc.

While I believe a hypothetical Neo Scavenger 2 would likely ship with more content than the first game, it is clear that fans are passionate about this game/series and hungry for content.

I think if we could all easily make and share our own content, a Neo Scavenger 2 could end up being a blockbuster hit of a game moreso than the first or Ostranauts.

As this thread is about the AllModsPack, yes, the town is from the mods. Pretty sure it is from Mighty Mod of Doom though. Unless you are only using NSE. Then feel free to correct me.

Everything in the mods would not show up in any part 2. Because Dan did not create the mod content. He made the game. Though like Stalker, ghe mod creators made the game feel complete. To be fair, it is difficult to maintain enthusiasm in game development.

Hmm not sure, as I haven't verified it in-game with the mods, but had simply "spoiled" the location for myself by seeing it on "Neo Scavenger Extended wiki" (one of those blasted "Fandom" pages).

And yes, I understand that; I wouldn't expect the mod content to be in a part 2. What I would like Dan to include though would be more of a "modkit" easy enough for even the less tech-savvy of us to use to make content.

That said, I have to say I feel I got my money's worth with Neo Scavenger base game several times over, without even starting the mods that the fans have made (and which I'm grateful have been posted by Sachys).
Just looked at what you mentioned about Extended. The guy(Chico?) from way back on Blue Bottle forum must have picked up from where Mighty Mod left off on a to be continued cliff hanger. At least in adding his own town of Arbor.

Which is fine, unless it overlaps with Mighty....that would be bad. Mighty has a town either near or the same location as NSEs Arbor. Called Hopes End. Mighty also has a quest you get in town. Plus it has a lower left Evacuation camp area with a dark story.

I really think the guy from Master Override mod should merge NSE latest into his pack. But I cant ask him.

Maybe Sachys will ask or see if Chico will merge it with his NSE? Even Mighty being unfinished, it still enriches the game world to feel more alive with detail.

Outside of work I try and use Discord as little as possible tbh. Saw you in a pinch so helped as I could.
What you suggest would be making the hole deeper than I'm comfortable with I'm afraid.
If it's the client that bothers you - it CAN be used browser only - if that's of any use?!
