Download and install VLC media player.
Open game folder, open "movies" folder. See if you can play any of the files using VLC media player. If not, you could be missing codecs.
Even with codecs around, there may be differences with the videso being played by the game, or running them in a standalone media player. For instance when I played Wheel of Time on Windows 7, it has some issue where the Quicktime videos are played as slideshows within the game, even if you have Quicktime installed on your PC. But when you play the same videos on a standalone player (even Quicktime, or is it called just iTunes nowadays), they play fine.
