tigress666: Ok, so I'm kinda new here so please go easy on me. And I don't usually game on my computer because I don't really want to pay attention to what graphics cards are good/bad/whatnot.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any input if my 2014 13" Macbook Pro will be able to play this game. It's got a slightly better processor than required, way more than enough RAM (16 GBs), but yes, an integrated graphics "card" (chip?), an Intel Iris. And I just don't know enough about graphics cards to tell if my computer will play it (some one said my computer will play Battlefield 4 if that makes any difference).
I don't care if it is top quality, I'm the kind of person who tends to not notice low framerates (I can't even tell on Dragon's Dogma which I know has a bad rep for dropping framerates even if I don't notice and even though I can tell on my Vita's copy of Borderlands 2 it isn't bad enough to bug me too much) so as long as it is decently playable (as I said, I'm not super picky but I don't want a game that's going to be lagging so badly that I constantly am getting "beachballed" (or for windows users the hourglass) or where the game runs so slowly it's like watching a movie in slow motion).
Has anyone played it on a similar machine to be able to tell me if it might run ok?
Edit: Oops, I forgot it's only Steam that's allowing pre playing of it. Still, if anyone has opinions or maybe has played it via Steam I'd love to know (I posted here cause here is where I plan on buying it as I'd much rather use GoG over Steam anytime it's an option).
I have an Intel HD 4000 and I can play most of the new games out there at around 30fps. Your Intel Iris is not only more new than the Intel HD 4000, it is also more powerful. So the Intel Iris is not bad for graphics unless you are the kind of gamer who needs at least 60fps with max settings for all your games... About Wasteland 2, I can't help you because I have not purchased the game yet...
BUT you should go to Youtube time to time and type in intel iris wasteland 2 or intel hd 4000 wasteland 2. If you do this, you might come across a video in the future of someone playing the Wasteland 2 early access version with an Intel Iris or the Intel HD 4000. Then you can guess from there, what kind of performance you will get.
I also found this video on Youtube that might help you get an idea of how your Intel Iris will handle Wasteland 2.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6DZsb4qOGw This video(a review of the early access version of Wasteland 2) is showing you how the game runs with an Intel HD 3000. Compared to the Intel Iris, the Intel HD 3000 is a piece of a garbage. So if you are like that guy and don't mind low fps in games, you should have no problem with Wasteland 2.
Wasteland 2 is made with the Unity engine so you can also look at the list of games out right now that uses the Unity engine.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unity_Engine_games Then you can search Youtube or google for information about the performance people are getting from those games with the Intel Iris(or Intel HD 4000).
