Hello!

I'm having a problem with my micro USB cables. The end that plugs into the device (not the USB port) always ends up getting bent. Because of that it gets loose and I have to replace it. I've gone through a bunch of cables now.

How do I prevent this from happening?

Seconded. :)

Gotta admit that I have over a hundred of those little annoying cables.

And I can never find the one I need when I need it between the micro, the mini, and whatever the third small one is called.

edit: And then to boot only some of them work on certain pieces of equipment like my Amazon Fire. So much for standardization.

The micro USB are very small and easy to damage. Other than putting no pressure on it before/after you put it in, i have no other suggestions... Unless you can use one of the other USB types (but like PS4 controllers and some of the phones, that isn't much an option)

I'm not rough at all with my hardware. I just plug it into my phone and leave it on my desk to charge. After a while it just bends.

Conspiracy theory: Very tiny Dwarves with hammers are coming in and bending your cables when you aren't looking...

I honestly have no idea how you could bend a usb cable short of slamming it in a car door or something similar.

Where's the quote from? My first thought is 'The Killing Joke' or 'They're coming to take me away', but none seem to fit.

It's not from anything specific. Just generic maniacal laughter.
Sugru, mold it around both end of the cable, will keep it rigid.
Or keep it at a angle....if that's what you need.
You can bend them back out with a needle.

I think you might be on to something with the angle strategy. I'll keep an eye out for a stand that holds my phone at a different angle. Thanks for the suggestion.

A while ago I tried using a pair of pliers on a cable that became unusable. It didn't really work. I'll try using a needle next time. Thanks for bringing that up.

Sit on it?

Pets play with it?

Put any weight on it, so say having it hanging with your phone....
Weird, I've never bent any micro USB cable.
Maybe you're using low quality ones? O_o
