As of 10th November, 2021 I can see that there is a disparity between the offline installers for Pikuniku for Windows and Linux versions.

While the Windows version reads 1.0.5-GOG1, the Linux one reads 1.0.3

So can anyone shed light on what is the cause of this difference? Is the Linux version not updated on GOG?

EDIT: Problem initially posted in the game subforum. Reposting as no one responded.

Linux installers usually lag a bit behind updates to Windows installers, by a few days on average. This is business as usual as far as GOG offline installer update flows are concerned, anyway.

P.S.: macOS is usually in the same boat.

According to the Pikuniku changelog on gogdb the update from 1.03 to 1.05 was on 2019-02-11. That's a bit too long to be considered "lagging a few days".

Linux update parity has been atrocious on GOG for quite some time now.

A few examples off the top of my head:

Renowned Explorers - International Society: Updated from 522=>525 for Windows on 2021-04-26, Mac and Linux still on 522
Door Kickers: Updated to version 1.1.5 on Win and Mac in 2019-04-26, Linux still on version 1.0.9 today
Momodora - Reverie Under the Moonlight: Update 1.063=>1.07 for Win on 2021-20-29, Mac and Linux still 1.063

Hi there. I take it that you're probably a long time lurker so I'll be gentle.

There's this big ole thread on just such a matter!

I know the second class citizen thread and contribute my findings from time to time

I'm just not sure if the missing Linux updates are specific to GOG or if Linux is left behind on other platforms as well and that's why I'm not posting to that thread.

Of course I could investigate if Steam has those updates for Linux, but I've spent so much time trying to fix GOGs shortcoming in the past, opening support tickets with GOG (I've reported the missing Door Kickers update multiple times for example) and almost nothing ever gets fixed. Right now I'm not in the mood to spend more time doing the work GOG should be doing, sorry. Feel free to check if Steam has the updates and then post to the second class citizen thread.

edit: But I've just remembered that GOG is missing the multiplayer update for Superliminal that Steam users received a week ago and I'm going to post that.

edit2: The main reason why I'm not checking, if the missing Linux updates are GOG exclusive is, that I don't know of an easy way to check the version numbers for Steam games I don't own.

The developers of Pikuniku are virtually impossible to track down in any way, and of course Devolver Digital is totally useless. I know this because an achievement is broken on GOG and there's no way to make it work.

Oh, I see... didn't mean to imply anything really, it's just that from the way OP presented the problem, it looked like it was something fairly recent. Then it's a case of offline installer abandonment, sadly...

I can't track Linux installer differences with Galaxy, because Galaxy of course does not support Linux, but I'm keeping an eye on Windows and macOS installer differences vs Galaxy here.

Yes, sadly the Linux installers (almost) always take a few more days to update than the ones for Windows and Mac. I think there's only one person, maybe two, responsible for manually building the Linux installers at GOG and when they aren't in the office/sick/quarantined then there aren't any updated Linux installers until they are back and sometimes updates seem to get completely lost in that process.

Thanks a lot for tracking the differences between Galaxy and offline installers! Instabookmarked :)
