Starmaker: So what were you complaining about in the post I quoted? People EITHER pay a relatively high price OR pay peanuts but are unable to buy gifts as a result of GOG's attempt to stop bootlegging.
You are right, I worded it wrongly. In short: I dislike gift-locking and other regional restrictions.
And another for the discount list, MaGog says $7.49 RU/UZ for Star Ruler 2. More interesting would be a list of exceptions from the Russian discount now...

Eventually that will probably be the shorter list as well, at which point I can just invert my GOGmix.

Or chuck it down a chasm, if the whole catalog ends up regionally-priced.

That temptation is already pretty strong...
From MaGog's logs for 1 April:

* Regional price for Star Ruler 2 in RU: $7.49 instead of $24.99
* Regional price for Star Ruler 2 in UZ: $7.49 instead of $24.99

What did you expected with the "Good News" ? -_-

The catalog is going slowly to be fully regional priced (well at this rate)...

While retroactive regional pricing has occurred, it still hasn't hit the big publishers' games (Act of War is the oddball exception, admittedly). Will be interesting to see what will happen when it's time for renegotiations.

GOG oppened the pandora's box, i have some serious doubts when some contracts will end .....>.>

Like Sinistar said the temptation will be pretty strong , maybe too strong.

Personally, I'm somewhat paranoid of the possibility of publishers choosing not to renew a contract and having all their games removed. This will be a real deal-breaker for me.

You have a good point,.......
I already don't care at all.

I won't buy anything here, regional pricing or not, with the current situation being as it is.

GOG said in the past that more games will make them stronger to be in a better position for negotiation. But I don't have much hope for that. Experience looks different.

I just wonder if they suspected this beforehand and kind of lied to the customers exaggerating their future negotiation potential or if they were misjudging the situation themselves?

On the other hand I give them credit for the partly price compensation. So at least they try to change something.

I have to admit that for me this is an additional negative buying argument. Whenever the price is kind of okay but I see that in other regions people can buy it much cheaper I feel ripped-off and since I hate this feeling I do not buy but it makes me want to pirate or not play at all. It makes it impossible for me to buy games at release for full price without a bad taste. So I don't do it anymore.

Well as expected gog just announced that they will change all the game prices in the catalog for russian users so that they will be a lot lower priced basically expanding the pricing dumping. Not that that's bad but I wonder when gog will adjust prices for other regions that were economically affected too?

Which regions would that be? Or do you mean countries within regions, as regions are set at the moment?
