Erase your enemies from the Space Race

Battlezone 98 Redux, the grand return of the legendary sci-fi strategy/action hybrid, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and multiplayer and a 33% launch discount.

We know a lot of crazy things happened in the 60's but what about those we have no clue about? What if the USA and the Soviets had already conquered space travel and were blasting each other across our solar system, trying to gain control over an alien bio-metal?
The answer is presented in explosive fashion in one of the most unique, addictive blends of RTS and first-person action around.
Transform Venus, Titan, Mars, and even the Moon into a massive battlezone, exchanging rockets with your enemies' MAG Cannons, Cold Fusion Lasers, Howitzers, and other weapons of fun destruction. The heavily remastered HD visuals bring the two campaigns and the intense multiplayer that extra flair they need in order to recapture the hearts of those who have fond memories of the game, and those who are eager to join them.

Side with either the Soviets or the USA as they turn space into a Battlezone 98 Redux, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 33% discount will last for the duration of the Summer Sale.
Well this definitely one of the games I have been waiting for. Only ever played the demo version. But it was very interesting with the singleplayer mission that was available then. Definitely getting it.

Now I hope this means we will see other Rebellion games like Zombie Army Trilogy.

Is it worth it at this price ? And how does this compare to Uprising games ? (I never played any of each)
Hope these and other issues get fixed...

Hm, its similar but also not since you build all your units in factories and harvesters harvest ressources while in Uprising you can magically beam troops to wherever you wan't to and ressource system is dependent power pumps which you build on preordained spots. You basically command from your tank or on foot and give orders to units and where to build stuff.

Ok, thanks :) I'll try to find some reviews to learn more about it ;)
How does this compare to Urban Assault?

I've always had a soft spot for the action/rts hybrids - Uprising etc. but never did get round to trying Battlezone.
1.) Battlezone 98 Redux on GOG - yeah!

2.) *sigh* Unfortunately it has to go on my wishlist, because I bought it on Steam already, the day it got released there. Twice even. That money could've been yours GOG, if only you'd delivered on day one.

I don't want to put the blame entirely on you, though, because I don't know, if it is actually your fault, or if it is the developers fault, or a unhealthy mixture of both.
So how does the Redux version compare to the 1998 version? Is it just upgraded graphics?
And along with Planetbase, that's 2 titles towards the badge, and 2 less items on my Steam wishlist.

Keep it up GoG!
is this release overpriced?

Have you played Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising?

Actually, as long as we're asking how similar Battlezone is to other games I'd like to know how Battlezone compares to that, as I never played Battlezone before either. It looks somewhat like Hostile Waters, but with a lot more units in the field at once.
Really nice to see it here. However, I have pulled the trigger on Homeworld, so this one has to wait on the wishlist.

...and the next question would be, is it worth it for that price? I've never heard about it before, let alone play it. Time to do some review reading & video watching I guess.
I'm glad to see it here, and bought it.

But to some extent, I' have prefered to get the vintage BZ1 and BZ2 as classics

No, don't think so. At least not with the release discount. Of course, if they had packaged it with the classic game it would have been fantastic value.

Even the original aracde was great, the 1998/1999 were major improvements and this is putting the game back to standards. Of course, I have to acknowledge that we had vastly different view regarding games 20 years ago. We could still be baffled by a game. The current generation probably has seen it all ...
