Big Pharma, a capitalist dream for aspiring prescription-drug overlords, is available now on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux - DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

In Big Pharma, you're in charge of a soon-to-be-massive pharmaceutical company. You make medicine, drugs for the people (or is it the masses?). That's a lot of responsibility, and one of the biggest questions in Big Pharma is just how much you care.
The game is a mix of business simulation, in which you'll make all the tough decisions about your company, and a game of logic, in which you'll plan out your production lines, recipes and the nitty gritty of your final product. It's up to you what you make, what it takes to produce, and how you balance any potentially awful and beneficial side effects. The market is full of competition, and when we're talking heart medicine or contraceptives, the stakes can get high. Sure, you can dominate the market with your cheap and dangerous product, but is that really winning?

Big Pharma is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com The launch discount will last until Thursday, September 3, 12:59 PM GMT.

jamotide: Really? You start up a big pharmaceutical company every day? Come on, that's like saying you can't play Capitalism because you work in a factory.
Comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek, but on a more serious note I actually find the work I do extremely interesting, and the main thing that would likely put me off the game is the glaring simplification of all the interesting things I work on. I suppose you can think of it as being like someone who races cars and is really, really into it trying to play a racing game.

gamefood: Uhhh tiles...
Can someone tell me why everyone seem to like tiles these days??? If one likes these thingys that much one could go in the bathroom and stare at the walls the whole day...

jamotide: What is the problem with it? What do you mean these days? Theme Park, Theme Hospital,Pizza Connection?
The problem with tiles is... tiles. I guess since Win 8 it's a heavily used design in the web, in apps and sadly in games too. The look of it is cheap, uninspired, pale and ugly. In the special case of Big Pharma, it looks to me like a mix of a typical casual game and Windows 8 ( and a bit of gog.com 2.0 too!). Except Pizza Connection I know the games you mentioned very good, they have no soulless tile design. They look all better than that game.
Looks evil enough. Wishlisted for now. :)

Ok fine, but considering there are like 5 business sims on the entire site, graphics are the last thing I will worry about.

jtvegas: Is it just another one of those boring factory sims with no variety and no replay value? Or does it make running a factory and pharmaceutical company fun? Given the track record of most business sims, I remain very skeptical.
Where are all these boring factory/business sims? Not on this site. I mean how do you find them? Honest question. Basically all business that I have ever played were fun to me.
Pretty good game.
Not the best time for releasing, Doom, Fallout, etc is getting all the attention, which sucks because this game deserves more (and only 3 pages? ouch).
Bought without regrets.
