Prepare yourself for a new look at narrative adventure games. The Council from the Focus Home Interactive is now available on GOG.COM DRM-free. It’s a game in which every our decision counts and every character changes as the story unfolds. Until 3 December, 2 pm UTC, you can buy The Council with a 66% discount.

The Council gives us a chance to attend a meeting of a secret society in the year 1793. On the small island off the shores of England, famous historical figures like Napoleon Bonaparte and George Washington are present. Intrigues and secrets run high, yet our main character has more pressing matters to attend – his mother recently went missing on the same island.

Awesome. Been waiting for this to come here for a while. Keep them coming.
Damn, we were looking at buying this on the Xbox, shame there's no Linux version. Glad it's here for everyone else though :-)
Can anyone comment on if this game has an interesting story?
Normally I only buy older games at a BIG discount.
This one is interestingly different and only marginally over my buy-limit of € 10,00
Downloading now.

Quick translation of a German review's conclusion:

Fancy a stylish, communicative and pleasantly creative adventure?
Then I can highly recommend this historic trip into the 18th century despite minor technical deficiencies!
It feels like a mantle-and-dagger adventure during the twelve to fifteen hours it lasts.
Only that fighting isn't done with blades, but with words instead.
As a detective, politician or occultist, one resorts to different rhetorical, psychological, linguistic, academic or investigative abilities to explain the mysterious disappearance of one's own mother and the secret plan behind it.
The communicative system is remotely reminiscent of my much-valued espionage role-playing game Alpha Protocol, but is designed here even more coherent and diverse.
During the turbulent era of the French Revolution, one encounters prominent figures such as George Washington or Napoleon, whose strengths and weaknesses one first has to find out.
Although the collecting stuff mechanic is superfluous, and facial expressions and movements are a bit stiff, one develops his character almost as in a role-playing game.
There are many good dialogues, but also puzzles and especially noticeable consequences - both after a chapter and at the end of the five episodes.
The Council exudes a pleasant crime and mystery flair with its theme around secret societies, and enriches the genre with an interesting narrative approach.
For me it's the best game from Focus Home Interactive since the creeping Goblin Styx.
I've wanted to buy this for so long but was waiting to see if GOG would get it. Thank you for bringing it here, Focus! Now it's time to show you some love for showing us some love. :)
This is now the 7th game that came to GOG after voting for it on the Community Wishlist only 3 to 4 days ago. How peculiar.
