Regions of Ruin is now available DRM-free. Get it 90% off until May 27th, 3pm UTC.

Regions of Ruin is a 2D side-scrolling RPG with town-building where you are introduced to an open world that progressively challenges your hero and settlement the further you delve into the vast continent.

You will discover a foreboding land ravaged by hundreds of years of hardship, where kingdoms have risen and fallen, settlements have been laid to waste and overrun by warring groups, and great mysteries lay hidden and waiting to be unearthed - assuming you can defeat their jealous guardians.
It's a really nice little game.

As soon as you have the first buildings built and a few areas are cleared, you assign workers to gather the resources, and you start to forge your own stuff...the fun really begins.

Unfortunately, I just encountered a bug. Can't tell what exactly happened.

I had just cleared an underground area, when out of a sudden my keyboard stopped working.

Didn't think too much about it, and since I had my Controller also plugged in, I used that to go back to the quest giver of that area.

So far so good - but when I wanted to start a conversation, the screen got "greyed out" and nothing went anymore.

Had to do a hard reset.

The progress of that area is probably saved (I'm not 100% sure, if the game autosaves after an area is cleared - I know for sure, it autosaves when you enter an area) but this shouldn't have happened, of course.

Nonetheless - I can see already, that these €1,25 was money well spent. This will take quite a while for me to play trough.
I've played it for a while now and yes, it's a fun little game, even though it gets a bit repetitive after a while. However, I've now noticed something really stupid: When standing on a moving platform, the player doesn't move with it, but has to keep up with the movement or he falls off. It doesn't make any sense and can't think of any other game where this happens. Fortunately, there don't seem to be many moving platforms in the game.

That sounds like more than just a bug. No game should be able to freeze the computer and require a hard reset like that. (Quite a few do, of course, but the point is that it shouldn't happen.)
The save function doesn`t seem to work correctly. When I load a saved game, I don`t start at the point where I saved, but at a point thats usually long before I saved. So when I save a game, end it and then start later the game again and load my last save, I lose a big part of my already made progress.
The only way to circumvent this is to use the autosave function only, because this one is the only one that saves correctly.
Think I'm going to go grab this.

Visual style is a bit ugly as sin, but I've mentioned a few times here I've been jonesing to try A Valley Without Wind. For a buck and change I think this is worth seeing if it'll scratch that itch.
Just a note on the listed (crazy, considering the simple graphics) requirements: Don't worry about that 512 Mb dedicated video bit, doesn't mind my Pentium G3440's integrated graphics at all, on max detail (such as it is).

GOG/some stores often go OVER on minimum requirements to make sure everyone they list can play...often times lower specs can run stuff....especially at lowest settings.
