Hot spot indicator? What kind of sorcery is this?!

Simon the Sorcerer & Simon the Sorcerer 2: 25th Anniversary Edition are now available, 10% off until April 10, 1pm UTC, with an additional 10% discount if you get them together. Owners of the original games get 50% off instead.
He can be arrogant. He can be obnoxious. He can drive your favorite fairytale characters nuts. Now he's also enhanced for his 25th Anniversary! Sporting a modernized control scheme, upscaled visuals, new animations and the option to mix and match all the cool new features with those of the original versions, Simon is back and ready to point & click his way into infamy once more.

Note: The original versions have been added to the new ones as a bonus goodie.

erephine: Yes, it's likely that the alternative would be to remove the original games from sale on GOG entirely and you can argue whether it is better to sell the originals as bonus goodies as they are doing vs. not selling them at all. But no one put a gun to their head and forced them to feature or market these 'editions'.
Still it's not a complete free decision it's one that is based on sales and expected revenue. No matter if we like it or not but that's what a business is based on. Anyway there's nothing "shady" about it and that is what my reply to Fairfox post was all about.

I don't want to defend neither GOG or the remake publishers. Never going to get the remakes, since I've already have the better old versions. But GOG could've been, though I'm not saying it was like this since I don't have the facts, but could've been facing the removal of the old classic games as the only alternative to letting the remakes sort of taking over. Personally I'd say it may be better like this: at least these classic adventure games remain drm-free here, though the money may from now on go to people one would not like to see receiving the rewards.
Funny thing, I read someone on twitch who had been interested in the games, but was seeing all these negative reviews - which I'd wager were about the remakes mostly... So the negative press may even make people skip the chance of getting these classics mistaking them for shovelware...

I agree.... that's why i usally recommend gamers to buy the games in order to get the classic ones like many already did to get the classic baldur gates games.

Anyway the devs don't seem to be aware that many new games were bought only to get the original games , so thes classics are the ones that carry the 'load' and these oldies are the ones that make the remakes sell .
Just to throw this out, Zeo still has a few copies of each of what I believe is the original versions of the first 2 games in his giveaway:
