An action-adventure of great depth.

The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human, the side-scrolling acount of humanity's downfall, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux, with a 15% launch discount.

It was always going to end in tears. A vast, unending ocean of tears. As you return from your desperate space mission that was humanity's last hope for survival, you find our world in submerged ruins. Terrible creatures have reclaimed the oceans, our species' last retreat, and are now the unwitting curators of this eerie underwater "museum", which chronicles man's inescapable journey to destruction.

Acting as a brave historian you must try to figure out what brought about the apocalypse, while navigating the nasty surprises lurking among the ruins. Information is scarce, but the beautiful pixel-art environments are rife with clues on humanity's brief passing from the surface (and subsurface) of the planet. Be observant and thorough in your exploration, but never let your guard down for here there be sea monsters.

Dive into humanity's past and breathe in The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 15% discount will last until January 26, 08:59 AM GMT.

JudasIscariot: Perhaps :P

vicklemos: I mean, roguelike, down by the sea, saluting captain Nemo and stuff ;D
Not a true roguelike but I see what you mean :)

Matruchus: Seems interesting. Kinda reminds me of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. Wishlisted.

Strange release time though.
as a kickstarter backer, they told us ahead of time (told on 1/5) it would be midnite PST on all platforms-Steam, Humble, GOG. This is one of those cases that some dev's get with the app store where they can pick their release time. I dunno if this counts as Tuesday's normal release though.
This is why I love indie games. They are so interesting and creative. It is very tempting to buy now.
this one seems pretty neat.

I agree. They do not reach such a large audience, but they serve something more singular.
If it is your thing, you might just love it. If it is not, it may not be for you.

The colours and art style remind me Risk of Rain, and to a point, Another World. Do you know games with similar art direction?

I love the art style too. I really like Risk of Rain, but I haven't bought it yet because I'm waiting for it to go on sale on GOG. I don't know any other game that has this art style. I thought it was made by the same people as Risk of Rain, but it is not.
"beautiful pixel-art"

Remember that discussion we had a while ago about the most overused phrases in indie games? Yeah. This one isn't going away it seems.
ooh I'm intrigued by the mystery aspect - I do like a good mystery in games
It looks kinda like a low-fi Aquaria...
Another to add to my radar (or sonar in this case...) I love the look of this as well..

It *is* beautiful in this case, though. Beautiful and effective pixel art is relatively cheap. Beautiful 3d, unless heavily stylized, is really fucking expensive. It's no wonder that good indie games tend to use the former.
Bought it, downloading right now as I type this. Looks great and it's not a cRPG, not a strategy game and not turn-based, so I'm buying it.

Will get back at you on how exactly I liked the game.

Thanks for an action/adventure release.

I really liked the art on this one. Dunno, a mix of doodles by some talented dude + glorious animations and (well it looks like) addictive gameplay.
Hm, are you always stuck in that submarine? Going by the title of the game, I half expected some more direct sub-nautical exploration.

And it seems nearly every screenshot features some kind of boss battle. I hope this isn't Titan Souls: Under the Sea Edition. :P

Might check it out, but I'll wait for reviews and a lower price.

Well, during the Kickstarter it was described by some gaming website as "a pixelated, underwater Shadow of the Colossus". I'm afraid your hopes won't be fulfilled...
Will we get Darkest Dungeon today?
