Yeah that's why I hesitated to mention it, I wasn't sure anymore :o)

That reminds me they forbid the fan remake of RE 2 which was in progress for a few years.

Cyraxpt: If it was already a pain in the ass managing the inventory then RE0 made it worse, thank god it never took off... But then again, that old style also died with RE0...
Well techincally Resident Evil old style died with Outbreak:

The team of that fan remake is currently on the development team helping with the remake :)

Ehhhhh, true but no one remembers that one and it was more of an experiment than a main game on the series.
The sad part is that it kind of return with ORC but instead of being a coop survival horror games it's just a dumb shooter.

snowkatt: sadly
and new style resident evil sucks ass

Cyraxpt: Indeed, it's sad because they were in the right track with the first Revelations, you had a full ship to explore with some puzzles in between, it really reminded me of the old style they had... But then they ruinned with a story that no one cares, it's so stupid and cheezy that ruins any immersion that a player could have. It's like Capcom told a awful joke and it's the only one laughing, they really are out of touch...

That, the boring monsters and the stupid mechanic where you have to stop and scan the environment for items...
I played a few hours of that game and it is not very good. So slow and clunky. It makes the original Resi game feel smooth as butter. They even managed to make the dialogue as bad as the original. That is very impressive.

I'd rather see more RE 6. At least it had good controls and voice acting. But I doubt the hate band wagon hasn't dropped dead for that yet.

Edit: My bad, i thought you were quoting my post about RE Outbreak.

Eh, it's ok, don't forget that the game was made for the 3DS so it has some limitations (no 2nd analog stick unless you buy the circle pad pro). Like i said, in terms of gameplay i only hate the scan for items/enemies mechanic, really intrusive and boring.

Can't hate something that i didn't played but i hope they go back to the old formula and stop with the current nonsense, have something simple and dumb, i don't need 100 cutscenes full of Michael Bay action and Adam Sandler humor.
That and the old design, instead of 20 different locations just get a good one where you can explore different areas but all connected between them.

I started playing with Resident Evil 4 and I was really annoyed by how you couldn't move and aim simultaneously, so I don't think I would enjoy tank controls.
I didn't even know it was on development. I'll probably buy it, console exclusives finally making it to PC is always great by my book. Here's hoping Code Veronica comes over too, then I can finally have the whole collection.

Big companies usually don't like fan-made projects or even some mods and unofficial patches.

Actually, as much as RE4 is praised in general, I also didn't like it because the controls don't really match the change of gameplay pace (bending towards 3rd person shooter) in the series.

In the earlier episodes, the tanky controls make more sense as the game pace is much slower. If you can wait next GOG sales, you could check out the Alone In The Dark 1-2-3 bundle as it defined the genre to see if it suits more your taste (it's generally discounted at 2-3$ I think)
