My Master of Orion classic ran like a dream up until 1 week ago. Now when I start it up, the screen flashes to unpacking dosbox, which it never did before. The game runs so slow it's unplayable. Also I don't have the Command F option of downsizing the window. I have to quit to dos to do anything else on my computer. Is this a virus, malware or something I've accidentaly done??

Should have added, I'm running an Imac High sierra 10.13.6

Something tells me it's more about MacOS than Win10.

This problem developed when I was running OS Sierra. Couldn't seem to fix it so I got a clean download of OS High Sierra. The problem is still there

Not familiar with Mac-anything...
There was a recent Mac-only update for most DOSBox games where they went from 32-Bit to 64-Bit.
That is what probably caused your problem:

You could try to change some of the default GOG settings in the config file to get a better performance. I don't have a
Mac, so I don't know where the .conf file is located. You can read about it here:

https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Dosbox.conf

I would recommend you to change your output to openglnb or opengl, fullresolution to desktop or 0x0, scaler to none and aspect to true to keep the original 4:3 aspect ratio.

Wow, I think that's an awesome answer, but it's way beyond my computer knowledge. So I guess no easy fix, which is what I was hoping for. Guessing I just won't be playing it anymore. Thanks technology lol!
There's a DOS games Emulator for Mac called Boxer, it seems pretty simple to run. It might be able to run
your game better.

After hours of tinkering, I've managed to restore playability by going into the master of orion game settings and redowloading the original game file from 5 years ago. Did that, changed the settings in my preferences to let the game run the computer and voila, works like it did a couple of weeks ago. Not a great solution, as I don't have the most up to date game fixes, but I can at least play it
