Cons:
- Extremely cliched plot trying too hard to be "epic", ancient prophecy yada yada ancient evil rises yada yada. Starcraft 1 was just so much better because every villain had their own objectives which made sense, in a sense SC1 had no "villains" at all. Amon's objectives were basically "life is suffering so I'll kill everything so they no longer have to suffer" - excellent characterization Blizz.
- In general the writing was just bad, so many "All Protoss need to unite as one to fight against Amon" lines that just make you cringe. Listening to Artanis talk makes me want to stab my ears.
- Protoss characters are mindbogglingly boring, they talk in overly dramatic tones about honor and unity oh God please stop. Alarak was the only entertaining character in the whole campaign (great voice actor whoever it was). Why do Protoss (by that, I mean Templar) have no flawed or morally ambiguous characters in their society? I think if I was a Protoss I would of committed suicide at having to live with so many sanctimonious and self-righteous people.
Pros:
- Well designed missions (despite so many of them being timer-based) (special mention to the one where your base is on a space platform which you can move around)
- Cool soundtrack
- Good RTS gameplay
- I like the factional units, like how you get the Taldarim and Purifier units once they join you.
- Amon basically looks like Cthulhu.
