This game has been one of a long time standing early access games in steam like the forest, subnautica, etc.. But I could see the games potential as the progress as it keeps introducing new features that fits the realistic survival game setting..I would like to hear if there is any chance that this game will be ever released on gog.com when it's out on it's alpha stage.. We would really like see this game progress here on gog since I think the game developers would also need to extend their platforms or on other website to finish their production..

I also like this game because of it's innate survival, wilderness, and exploration game setting. It would make a great game if this is ever release on sites other than steam with no-drm especially on gog.com.

I am a new user... but that's not my goal I wouldn't waste my time registering an account here just to post on this website..I think we should head back to the topic.

Cheers,
It appears that there is a chance that the game will appear on GOG, since there is a hidden entry for the game in GOG's system:

While GOG certainly could use Open World Survival game or several, I'm not entirely sure Stranded Deep is best or even one of the best candidates to pick up. It does have around 800k owners according to Steamspy but it's over 2 years behind schedule, it's only quarter done and recent reviews give it only Mixed rating. Game seems suffering from almost terminal level of Feature Creep™ that seem to permeate the entire genre (every single game in the genre I know seem to suffer from it, at least to some extend, some worse than others). I hope I'm wrong obviously but that certainly what it looks like from outside observer point of view.

I also do have to ask how exactly would coming on GOG help Stranded Deep reach completion (faster)? It would certainly extend game's user base increasing funds available for the project and give additional source of feedback but wouldn't that just encourage devs to dig themselves deeper into black hole known as Feature Creep™?

Just honestly curious how you think coming to GOG would miraculously fix the obvious problems with game's development.

Don't have any answers to anything you said, but as SCPM posted above, the game already has an entry in GOG's store database which indicates it is coming here unless there's some kind of collapse in whatever deal they've got arranged. Arguments about the quality of the game, the developers etc. are kind of moot.

I may be misinterpreting Xanders025's post due to poor grammar but I got the impression from his post that he thought that getting game on GOG would help devs "finish the game" when game's popularity and devs incorporating users suggestions and feature requests seem to have gotten the game to state it's in now (development being 2 years behind scedule and feature creep leading to poor performance and reviews). I'm honestly curious why he would think that way.

I did read SCPM's reply and I'm not against GOG release per se, quite contrary as, as I mentioned, GOG could do use Open World Survival game or three in it's catalog. I just hope GOG picks the right one(s), ie. the one(s) that are completed at some point and not ones that are either permanently in development or ones where devs state that this is 1.0 and they are done with it no matter the actual state the game in question is. Disturbingly large number of EA games fall into later two categories. Open World Survival games seem especially susceptible due to their very nature.

GOing jsut by the thread title I thought this would be from someone who was kinda wandering aimlessly online and ended up making an account on GOG, not knowing what it is or how he ended up here :D

"I'm stranded deep inside GOG.com and can't get out! Please help!" ;-p X-D

Someone did not read the "abandon all hope" sing at the entrance it seems. Or did the "point of no return" sign fall off again?

To be fair, Terraria is on GOG, and that game has received a few dozen updates and additions since its release here. ( And it was already quite old by the time it showed up on GOG. ) I'm sure GOG has plenty more games which remain permanently "in development". As long as the customers know what they're getting into, and the devs don't slack about bringing new updates here, I don't see why such games shouldn't be available for sale here. Especially now that GOG has its own version of "Early Access". And the majority of in-dev/early access titles they've picked so far look very promising.
