Though could be good for the employees this will more or less mean no change in Gearbox preferring DRM for there releases, Private Division is the only Take 2 subsidiary that has published on GOG and even then that has been limited.

The deal also includes Gearbox IP's such as Borderlands, Tiny Tina games, Homeworld, Risk of Rain, Brothers in Arms, and Duke Nukem.
Looks like that ulcer Pitchfork is still on board, doesn't look like anything is going to change for the better.
Borderlands 4 eh? Bold of them to assume there were any survivors after experiencing Borderlands' 3 writing. Only those with top mental fortitude emerged from experiencing that unscathed. It played fine, but the amount of cringe in the dialogue is probably lethal to most.

Combine that with the upcoming movie and I can see why Embracer is preemptively mitigating losses. Sad to see Duke in the list too though. They kept Remnant, but Duke got left behind :(
I assume that everyone who really likes them and wants to play already has the Gearbox games available here on GOG. I didn't expect any more titles from Gearbox in the future.

It would be nice if Embracer would finally publish more of the classics here.

@Embracer @THQ Nordic

Do you urgently need money?
Then please publish the following titles here on GOG, they will definitely sell well overall:

Baja - Edge of Control HD
Deep Rock Galactic
Satisfactory
Tomb Raider - Rise of the Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider - Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Remnant from the Ashes
MotoGP 13 - 22
Dead Island
Dead Island Riptide
Escape Dead Island
Homefront
Homefront - The Revolution
MX vs. ATV (4 games!)
Maneater

Aren't the Mafia and Bioshock games 2K, a subsidiary of Take 2?

I am somewhat heartened that Gearbox is at Take 2. It feels like the chances of Brothers in Arms 4 releasing just went up.

Does this deal work in GOG's favor? Probably not... but... a guy can hope, right?

Oh Right, I completely overlooked those, thanks for the reminder.

No worries... I often mistake Take 2 and 2K and only figured it out this time with Wikipedia. ;)
What I think is weird...

... after the failure of the Saint's Row launch, Embracer Group moved many from Volition into Gearbox.

Now Gearbox is gone... and sold far below what Embracer paid ($460m vs $1.3B).

This all just seems very, very strange.
As far as I'm concerned, Gearbox may as well have been a 2K subsidiary since they always did business with them. Wouldn't be surprised if they ended up doing that.

Yeah I don't see much changing for GOG. We have various 2K games here but - afaik - not much that wasn't already on Steam, other than the Army Men games (which were added eventually). Take 2 dev'd some old games back in the 90s, but seemingly no interest in re-releasing them (and it's not like they're hard up for money anyway). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Take-Two_Interactive_games#Games_developed

I can kind of see the old Duke Nukem games coming back, and maybe DNF showing up but with multiplayer and other online content (if there is some) ripped out (though I wouldn't mind that personally). Which would be good for GOG, but bad for ZoomPlatform.

But a huge part of Borderlands is the multiplayer, right? That seems to be a stopping point for getting many old games here - no interest in porting multiplayer to Galaxy. (I suspect that's the main reason why Dead Island never showed up, though I'd buy it without multiplayer.) We did get Homeworld from Gearbox though; hopefully that sticks around.

I was surprised by that. You have to be doing something seriously wrong to suffer such a massive devaluation in a relatively short period of time. Either that or someone just massively overpaid in the first place.

Overpaid is more likely imo as well as selling underprice because they could just need money quickly. Embracer was gunning for the Saudi investment and was likely paying premium for many IPs to secure that investment. Now that if fell through, they may be trying to offload some IPs because they paid too much and now need money. The very aggressive expansion must have screwed things up in Embracer when the Saudis pulled out which really makes me wonder why they did. Honestly also makes Square look even dumber for selling their IPs for such a low price.
One crappy company selling a backstabbing company to another crappy company....
