Not sure if you are saying that cheating and promiscuity is a bad thing, but if should be punished, believe me, we would not have jails for so many people.

Well, I don't like cheating, but is not a crime, and certainly not the worst one can do within the boundaries of non criminal behavior.

Now, as I said, nobady realy cared too much about her having sex with anyone, we had an issue with the journalis she slept with. Maybe the mistake was that people began to focus on her, she is a horrible person, but she was not meant to be the target of criticism. The target of criticism was the man she slept with. But the big irony is that anti-GG criticism supported more GG than GG did by itself, by ranting towards the whole gaming community, in a very aggressive and illogical way. Such great ironies only appear in great sad stories, so it is even sadder that this one is really happening.

That's assuming that the anti-GG gaming press was ever actually about gaming to begin with. At this point, even that perspective is being given a second glance.

Personally, I've never trusted really any press, mainstream, alternative, niche, or otherwise... so for me it's not quite a shocker to see the gaming press gurus stab their own community in the back. When someone assumes to speak for you in the pursuit of your own interests, it's better tell that person to go take a long walk off a short pier.

Most of us (in GOG) could not care less about the broader media issues. Because despite the close to the skin issue being kind of obvious in where the authoritarian impulses are (in the postmodern Blue tribe) in a broader cultural sense most of the folks here still lean preferentially towards those Blue social-cultural positions (truly policies). So they will mostly ignore that the forces they are opposing through Gamergate are the same ones they are normally actively supporting at a broader societal context.

That's what most organizations would do. That would mean they would have to stop stuffing every one around with "quota systems" etc and just hire the best person for the job. If a population is "diverse", then the choice of people fighting over available jobs are diverse and therefore who gets hired would reflect that.

More importantly, what needs to be understood is europeans are going to be (or already are in some places) a minority in most formerly european nations in a decade or so. We'll soon find out how "fair" and "diverse" things are.

On blue tribe / red tribe you can pretty much map the liberal conservative cultural divide of the US. Very very roughly though, as the traditional stereotypes are breaking down faster and faster. (see my 2nd link for historiographical example)

I mean, when anyone seriously considers the rejection of objectivity to be compatible with anything and everything journalism is supposed to be, you know the game is rigged, so to speak. Anything else is a distraction, despite the fact said distractions are vicious and causing harm.

I do not speak for anyone other than myself, but I think the lack of ethics in journalism is something worth to wory. There are many threats to free speech in modern journalism, and threats to safety too.

Exactly. In stead I found a SJW shitstorm infecting academia. In the end I managed to find a couple of works which were useful to my plans, but most of my sources did not came from an academic database but from Wizards of The Coast. Exactly, and that is the second part of the equation. Due to the stupidity of the people, doors are open to control.

But the idea that gaming is somehow an ethos is a fallacy. Gaming isn't a religion, a philosophy, or a political movement. Gaming is an activity, albeit a very profitable one. Take sports. For some people playing a sport is a way of life that offers them a career and millions of dollars, meanwhile to many others playing that same sport is a simple fun hobby they share with their friends on weekends. Same sport, same activity, but being played by many people for many different reasons.

Gaming is no different. It's when a 'thing' that has a plural meaning to many suddenly has to become a monolithic concept with rules and codes of conduct and an overarching agenda, that's when problems begin... chaos theory in effect. Everything that is created must be destroyed in order for it to be remade again.

Gaming can be sexist, it can be racist, it can also have sensitive feelings towards women and minorities; it can be politically aware and correct, and offer senseless violence all at the same time, and be enjoyed by millions of people for any and all of the above. The guys with the fedoras and college degrees with their overhyped careers with blogs and review columns, when those people believe that gaming is becoming a religion, they want to be the apostles who get to tell you why God tells us to live by certain rules. Because they want to write the rules. Fuck the false prophets, and fuck those overvalued egotistical fucks in the media press.
