Yeah Sleeping Dogs was amazing. I did also struggle with the combat at the beginning since the counter isnt always responsive but its still alot of fun and decently deep. You can also “cheese” hand to hand combat once you unlock the leg break move in the dojo since against any not wrestler enemy, you can leg breal, get behind and double square to knock them out instantly.
I love SD’s gun combat however. It rewards vaulting and moving around by giving slow motion and disarming through vaulting or running up to the enemy and disarming gives more points. Story was also pretty good and wish they made a sequel.
The only “similar” game I can think of is the Like a Dragon/Yakuza series. Deeper combat and a good story although Yakuza is far more minigames and the kareoke is much harder.
