Hey, lets say I want to update kotor 1 or kotor 2, what options do I have for that besides the galaxy client? Manual only? (AKA google-fu skills?)

What would be the suggestion for a general case regarding updating a game?

For old games like Kotor1 and 2 (generally roughly 2010 and older) GOG almost always already has the "best" version - usually the latest version, except in cases where for technical reasons an earlier version is better. You don't need any updates, unless you're installing community patches or similar in which case you have to update manually.

For newer games, you may either use Galaxy for automatic updates or wait for GOG to provide a manual update, which is usually 2-3 days after it appears on Galaxy. Note though, that some publishers are notorious for not updating GOG versions of their game at all. See this thread:
