RWarehall: You can remove the "possibly" from long Live the Queen. Pretty much the game is about survival and marriage.
Kardwill: Marriage is simply a possibility in this game (and a political tool, as it's a politics game). You can end up married to a creepy old dude, engaged with a child, alone, in a same-sex relationship...
Unless it was modified recently? None of my playthrough seemed focused on the point. It is brought up by several bachelor nobles since you are a single queen, but not a central theme.
Been a bit since I last played it, but who you are and aren't promised to, plays a significant role in the game. And if I remember correctly, just about every successful ending states the resulting marital status as well as whether you bear a child.
Of course if you don't raise certain skills, you can be quite oblivious to the meaning behind these gifts and potential suiters, but either way, who you are and aren't with plays a major role throughout the game.
