So, this year's joystick awards "freebie" is Bioshock Infinite.

I got the invitation email and went through all of the voting just to find out that this year's gift has a "catch": the voucher provided just discounts the game to 1 USD (or Euro or Pound) in greenmangaming.com and you got to deliver your credit card credentials to get the game code.

You do get the money back later, as store credit, which for me, is the same as not getting it back. Specially since I don't use greenmangaming for anything.

Anyway, huge turn off, ended up not getting it.
for a dollar, you're actually going to complain?

Well, seems so.

I think it boils down to me disliking how the thing was set up, instead of simply the dollar itself. I can see myself taking up a similar offer from humble bundle where the dollar goes to charity instead of store credit, for example.

Also, they didn't need to do this last year, and they were working with greenmangaming too, so it makes this new catch feel more unnecessary and mercenary.

Finally, I'll probably end up having to buy the cheaper complete pack to get the DLCs (and not get an extra copy of the game to giveaway) instead of just the DLCs, since promos nowadays tend to do this, so I guess it is even less reason to get it on this offer. This is exactly what happened with XCOM, which I got from their offer last year.

I especially liked their "best platform" choices. turns out we do not have PC platform. We are Steam-gamers!
I'm surprised they didn't wait for MGS:V to be released or at least add it to any of the options to vote for anything, I was hoping to vote for that for game of the year
A dollar is still way to much for that piece of shite. Actually, "free" would also still be too much for it.
Does anyone remember last year's free software for voting in the Joystick Awards? I don't recall ever getting it even though I voted.
Well that failed, I already have a greenmangaming account. it wants you to have to make a new one to do this (even if you are logged in, clicking on the email link just takes you to a page to make a new one). So I make a new one, and get another email. Now it wants me to link to Steam for playfire - and says I already have and to log into the playfire account I used.

I have to use the email I used for voting to make a greenmangaming account, but I cant now use that greenmangaming account to do what is necessary to get the voucher as my old one is already linked to steam (via playfire).

Edit: Maybe I am missing something obvious, but at 2am I am giving in I cant be bothered with this nonsense at this time.

I think it was a copy of XCOM. And it was totally free.

Edit: and if I remember correctly, you had to vote by a certain date.

I jumped through the hoops last year to get XCom, won't bother again this year. It's an absolute waste of time. I didn't think they could make it any more complicated and annoying than last year but it sounds like they have...
I wasn't really keen on BioShock Infinite but it's worth a try for 1 buck so i voted and grabbed it. :D
So what happened to all those game "journalists" who loudly proclaimed that Bioshock Infinite was the "Citizen Kane of gaming" and "a smart game"?

Probably writing their 10/10 reviews for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided?
I am not wasting 1$/1€/1£ on a game which is on a service I don't use.
I could get Deus Ex GOTY or any good old game with drm-free goodness on Gog sale just by adding 1$ or 2$ more. :P

PS: I did voted in GJA and got a voucher code.
In case you want it reply here or send me a message. :)
Voted for Witcher 3 everywhere I could and got my Bioshock Infinite.
