Up to 80% off Read Only Memories, Tesla Effect, Pilot Brothers and The Samaritan Paradox!

The rugged trenchcoat, the fedora-fetish and the unfaltering nihilistic view on life are dead giveaways. But the real mark of all True Detectives is the dogged, borderline obsessive, oftentimes self-destructive drive to unearth the most uncomfortable truths against all odds. It is why we choose to celebrate these unlikely heroes in our Weekly Staff Picks: True Detectives, that feature four (almost five) secret-smashers at their best.

He has interfered with the execution of The Pandora Directive and stood in the way of the Overseer's vision. Now, legendary P.I. Tex Murphy, the oddly charming master of blind luck, must contain the Tesla Effect and try to rummage through 7 years of amnesia. Follow his post-apocalyptic misadventures in this unique mix of live-action video and free 3D movement that helped the loveable gumshoe achieve his enviable cult status.

In the year 2064 fully-autonomous, sapient machine assistants are as commonplace as the smartphone presently pressed against your pocket. You're an investigative journalist with something of a technophobic tendency, but that can't last long in a modern world - can it?
Inspired by Hideo Kojima's Snatcher, Read Only Memories is a point and click adventure across anime pixel-art straight from the 80's.

It's time we talked about the elephant in the room. Hey, wait a second. We need to find it first! Sensible Brother Chief and Brother Colleague, the Pilot Brothers, are definitely the right men for the job. But you might want to tag along, just in case they run into any trouble involving hilarious point 'n' click puzzles and tricky mini-games like the ones you normally find while roaming a cartoony, post-soviet world, searching for an elusive pachyderm.

Take out those notepads and be sure to write down that The Samaritan Paradox has also been spotted on the scene. But it will only qualify as a crime if you don't take advantage of our Weekly Staff Picks: True Detectives, going for up to 80% off. The promo will last until January 07, 10:59 AM GMT.
Glad to see this theme for a sale. I love playing as a detective!

JLH: i bought read only memories. 8.29 or whatever the sale price is, was fair to me considering what you get. isn't the gog product superior being a drm-free executable? i don't know. i'm sure the forums have worn this discussion out. anyhow...game looks awesome. i liked...not loved snatcher (...definitely not love it enough to spend the crazy $$$ to own it). some reviewers say that ROM has a social agenda though? that worries me. as a guy in his mid 30s i get enough social and political commentary from coworkers and social media. unless it's done REALLY well...i generally don't like to see it get serious unless there is a damn good reason for it. gaming for me is one of the avenues to escape all that.

bluepotatosack: Pretty much all good sci-fi contains social commentary. This one mostly has parallels with Blade Runner. Can you consider sufficiently advanced AI to be a sentient being?

The game does take place in a world with extremely flexible gender roles. That sort of thing tends to upset some people for some reason.
you're right about that. the problem is that people try to leave you with the question AND then feed you an answer/viewpoint. I like it when media explores the questions to really make you think about them and letting you wonder about the answer for yourself. so when I say some media has an "agenda" I mean I'm worried they are trying to inject a viewpoint/opinion. but I have not played rom yet. it's what I've read from some reviewers that has me worried but i'll play it regardless. I'm excited to try it out.

No, I mean, I can't seen to find True Detectives to buy.
I know the sale was over a long time ago, but I missed it back then and now can't find the game to purchase.
Was it removed from the store?

"True Detectives" was the name of the promo, not a specific game :)

Are you trolling us? "True Detectives" was not part of the promo, it was the title. You could not buy the game "True Detectives", it was a sale in which we could buy discounted detective-themed games (Read Only Memories, The Samaritan Paradox, etc).

All of the games in the True Detectives promo can still be purchased on GOG, there just isn't a game called True Detectives available on this store.

I swear I am not trolling, I totally misread it.
I think I've been too tired lately. My bad and thanks for pointing that out for me.
