Donald Duck's Playground!
Although I guess that's more a game about temp work, not employment. You take on several jobs so you can buy toys for your nephews to play with.
And from what I've read there's some tedious work to be done in Always Sometimes Monsters (stacking crates or something like that; then again things like that are probably featured in several games as sidequests - and Sokoban is all about moving crates in a warehouse, except you don't seem to get paid for it ;) ).
Also what about those time-management games in which you have to babysit or serve customers or something, do they count? Btw, what was the original old-school / arcade game that has you serve thirsty patrons in a bar or something? Or is that already a variant of something older? There are probably more old games like that, depending on how open or narrow your definition is (e.g. in Burger Time, you're a "chef" who has to assemble burgers; it definitely fits the definition of "weird", seeing that your enemies are eggs and sausages :D).
