A master of horror have left us today and now the world is a little bit less fun.

Just read this.

Somehow words like icon and genius don't do the man justice.

HOWEVER, let's not shed any tears. I say we break out the Wes Craven DVD collection and enjoy a few TEARS! :D

Groundbreaking. Not many have done as many classics as he and it's a rare thing to revitalise a whole genre. More than once even. Love them too.

He should definitely be up there with Spielberg in his own twisted little way.

I'm not big on horror movies (with some notable exceptions) so I won't claim to be a big fan of Craven. I will admit this however, as a comic book fan- I actually liked his Swamp Thing movie. It was made before Alan Moore reshaped the nature and quality of the comic series, so one can't take issue with it not being on that level of writing, and for what it was it was a fun story of bizzare science and monsters, a very enjoyable B movie.
