clarry: Yet another crappy rpg for casual console gamers.
Does rpg count as one word or three?
Because you could have won a RTX with that sentence XD

MysterD: I'm hoping Cyberpunk 2077 is basically a mixture of Deus Ex (cyberpunk FPS/RPG combo of a hybrid) and GTA (especially w/ the terms of scale and scope GTA has in its huge open-world).
Me too, unfortunately the sense I get is that CDPR are hoping it is basically GTA Online, where a singleplayer game was released with an upcoming "free" online component, a whole "separate" game! ...A whole "separate" game that is obviously what the developer really cares about. Didn't CDPR say something to the effect of "naturally, there will be microtransactions" in the upcoming Cyberpunk multiplayer game?

I am glad I cancelled my preorder. Maybe a few years down the line when there is a game-of-the-year edition of Cyberpunk (meaning the singleplayer game, not the presumably-Galaxy-DRM-required multiplayer game) I'll buy it here on sale. In the meantime, I don't need to fund their dreams of becoming a Rockstar.
I think it'll be like the preview pics and videos but interactive.

Yes, they did. And in some interview someone also mentioned that 'online components' would be integrated into Cyberpunk 2077 - until the backlash caused CDPR to row back and make the multiplayer parts separate again.

So, with how CDPR and GOG have developed over the recent years I don't expect much from Cyberpunk 2077.

And I think it is entirely possible that parts of it will have an online requirement. ... Which will, of course, totally not be called DRM but wlll only be a Galaxy requirement for the good of the players. But of course that will not make Galaxy mandatory. You still will be able to play parts of the game without Galaxy after all! (note that this paragraph is pure speculation. But given that GOG still hasn't done anything about the DRM in some of the single-player games sold here it is a valid speculation I think. Especially since they do like their DRM and microtransactions in Gwent.)
I imagine the gameplay to be something like the recent Far Cry games, but with more variety and substance.
I don't expect it to have the same depth in the lore and characters as the Witcher 3.
It also feels aimed at a certain, mainly US, audience.

It's also aimed at a much bigger audience than the Witcher games. To me that implies it will be rather impersonal, because everything has to be politically correct so there's zero risk of offending anyone. Although the lefty media has already been attacking the game; they can't wait to make everything political and must be salivating with anticipation.

I have friends who are going to buy it at launch so I'll wait and see, but the game-world hasn't caught my interest so far.

MysterD: But, I do get where you're going w/ this - b/c there's lots of meaningless and grind-y fetch-quests and grind-y quests everywhere - which sounds very UbiSoft-like. Think of all of their games.

Also, DAI is a great example you mentioned - as its side-quests often follow the UbiSoft model.
Yes, the open world checklist model. Give you a big area and lots of mundane things to do in it, with no actual exploration just marker following. This is a VERY popular genre right now, and Witcher 3 a popular example, so I'm expecting Cyberpunk to be the same, but... we'll see.

What you just called it, I think that's the best name or phrase I've heard for this kind of game, since more than UbiSoft are doing these: "open-world checklist model."
I haven't looked at it too closely, but it reminds me a lot of Ms. Pac-Man.
I'm expecting a decent story with solid game mechanics. Not familiar with the lore but interested with what I'm seeing.
