ET3D: I understand that, but the game itself would still be the same. Sure, games as a whole changed somewhat once disk space got big enough. It's certainly a lot more comfortable to have everything you want installed without having to put a disc in when you want to play, or change diskettes or CD's during gameplay.
I'm guessing you're talking about physical extras, not the games themselves, and I agree that was a nice bonus in games that had them, but it's not really the game itself that's different, and certainly just buying a game on DVD won't give you much these days.
The games itself may have not changed much, but so are the comics. The difference is that one's installed within hand reach and not within a server's reach, the other can be viewed on a screen or though printed material.
And yes, those extras as well added more value to the game. There is a big difference between buying a game extra-less and buying a game and being invested into the game even if you were not playing it itself. Of course these days must have been long gone eh? With corporations not even bothering to put the entire content on discs and not asking you to download the rest, or giving you a disc that's basically still telling you to download the whole game, what will bring them to create material to get you invested long before the game itself is actually opened? All of these days are lost.
