Hey guys i am going to respond to every second comment!~

What is a gaming company which get a lot of unnecessary flak?

For me, that would be Bioware. I have seen many people criticise that company and their practices. I need to disagree. These guys made Baldur's Gate. They don't deserve criticism. They should be cherished and adored.

What do you think is a company which gets too much flak?

Why?
I don`t know... CDPR ? lol They made the Witcher 3 and were manipulated by investors in releasing CP77 to early lol
(I like this theory the most)

Anyway...I can see that after a month and a half from game premiere it`s actually worth my time...

BioWare hasn't been BioWare since...well, good luck finding the answer to this one. A lot of their key staff has been trackling out of there since EA took them over.

A lot of their key staff members have left - Jennifer Hepler; Mike Laidlaw; Casey Hudson; Drew K.; David Gaider; Mark Darrah; Trent Oster; Alan Miranda; The Two Doctors; etc etc. I'm sure there more, just can't think of them all.

A lot of the "Old Guard" and "Core" from BioWare: they're gone.

NWN1's Original Campaign disappointed. Dragon Age 2 disappointed many. BW Montreal's ME: Andromeda disappointed many. BW Edmonton's Anthem disappointed many too.

Just b/c they made BG1, BG2, Jade Empire, KOTOR1, ME1-3, DAO, DAI, and whatever else that's great - doesn't mean we can't call out when a disappointment comes out. [shrug]
I just want you to know, GeraltOfRivia_PL, that I love your posts :D lol

Maybe you are right. They are still a wholesome company

Wut
I think all of them. Why would a gaming company need anti-aircraft artillery?

Breja: I think all of them. Why would a gaming company need anti-aircraft artillery?
maybe they need to defend themselves
Rebellion Developments, yes their video games are mostly crap but their comics and novels are excellent among the best going, I recon that's where most of their effort and money is being spent. I'm amazed still they don't t just adept more of those into video games.

Because their releases keep bombing!

I think a lot of them do when they have a buggy release.

I mean, I work on long lived online services as a living and we test the heck out of that stuff, because it will run and be maintained for over a decade (ideally, several decades) and will run some mission critical software that cannot fail or be compromised.

Games, they might get some dlc love and updates for half a decade at the most and then they are done, nobody will touch or have to maintain this codebase ever again and if they fail, the direst consequences will be some gamers' disappointment.

Given that and the sheer operational complexity that a lot of games have (especially the 3D games with physics engines, those things have an almost bottomless amount of permutations that can go wrong), you just can't expect them to have the kind of quality control many other kinds of software have (it just doesn't make economical sense), so I'd give those guys a break when they have an imperfect release and need to do some tweaks.

Sure, sometimes, they release too soon, but I bet most of them don't sit on an endless pile of money and at some point, they need to cash in.

In that regard, I think the "in development" model makes a lot of sense (a lot moreso than the preorder one).
