I was sorting my library using tags, and I noticed that almost 50% of it is point and click adventure games. 10% RPGs, 10% FPSs, 10% shooter games (from X-Wing to Hotline Miami, so pretty broad), 10% RTS & Tactics and 10% Miscellaneous genres (stealth, sandbox action, managerial).

I see many users talk about a lot of RPGs, so I got to wondering what's in other users' libraries percentage-wise.

So, what's in your library?

Edit: spelling

So, what's in your library?
24% RPG
23% Adventure
15% Strategy
11% Shooter

The remaining roughly 25% are classified as Indie. But that includes everything from Wuppo to Hotline Miami to HoB.
When I looked at my collection just now, about 10% were games that made me stop and think "Huh... I didn't know I owned that one." I'm sure several of those were just free giveaways since they're not games I would typically like. But there were a couple that I was genuinely excited to discover I owned. I guess I need to sort through the digital closet a little more often. :-)
Well, most of my library consists of RPGs and Shooters. Then there are some CIV-like games and some Tropico-like games. I also own one or two adventures and a few games of unclear genre. Oh, and HuniePop, I love HuniePop!

Pretty much anything.

If it were up to me, there'd be more first person shooters and VNs. With Linux support.

GOG I'm waiting.

According to the genre menu:
RPG: 36%
Strategy: 20%
Adventure: 17%
Indie: 17%
Action: 14%
Shooter: 8%
Simulation: 2%
Totals over 100% since some are in multiple genres. And that does include mass freebies that I'm not interested in, those would be basically all shooters and many of the adventures, plus a couple of others.
RPG: 20%
Indie: 22%
Action: 20%
Strategy: 19%
Adventure: 17%
Shooter: 14%
Simulation: 2%

RPG-percentage makes me sad :(

Used GOG's filter "Adventure"...

Alan Wake, Bioshock, Call of Juarez.... useless.

RPG:
Bioshock, ECHO (???), Chains of Satinav, Enclave...

Ask me in a year, when I'm done tagging all my games in Galaxy 2...
RPG 40% including both RT and TB
FPS 30%
Strategy 20% including both RT and TB
Adventure 10%

I don't use indie tag so they are included in their respective genres and platformers/metroidvanias are lazily tagged as adventure games which are about 150 games long atm. I only play RPG's, FPS, Strategy and a few adventure games it seems and i had no idea but i don't like other games so it must be right but then i am shit at organizing things.

Judging by gogs genre sort option:

Adventure: 31 % (which includes VNs for some reason)
Strategy: 28 %
Simulation: 14%
RPG: 12 %
Action: 11 %
Shooter: 1 % (Jydge I understand, but never did I view Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime as a shooter)

The missing 3 % are me not rounding up/down.

[Interesting sidenote: The number of total games (edit: = owned games) is equal to the sum of the games in those genres (without Indie). So, no doubles, unless some games don't fall into any one of those genres.]

At first glance, Strategy is at #1 while Roleplaying is at #2. I would've loved to do a more detailed summary, but all the genre-crossing only makes for a gigantic headache. I'm not writing a college dissertation on my GOG purchases, so I'm just not going to bother.
99% games
1% movies
GOG's genre sorting is nonsense.

That being said, RPGs and Adventure games make the bulk of my library, with anything else coming far behind.

I use custom tags for every purchase for a quick search when looking for something to play. It's one of the reasons I reverted back to Galaxy 1.2 after I noticed Galaxy 2 wasn't supporting it yet.
Mine:

Action 11%
Indie 12%
Strategy 20%
Adventure 20%
RPG 20%
Shooter 4%
Simulation 8%

As others have said, my total is more than 100% due to games being listed in multiple categories. I'm pretty surprised that Simulation is so low and Adventure is so high.
