I'm currently playing Temple of Elemental Evil, but this is my line-up for 2021:

Hellpoint - I haven't played Dark Souls or any souls-like games. This one looks cool and has Linux native, so I'm keen to give it a try.

Dark Forces - I really liked Jedi Knight, but never played the prequel. Got it in the recent sale.

Witcher 2 - Bought it years ago on a sale and never played it. Finished Witcher 1 earlier this year and very keen to play the next installment.

Iconoclasts - I like indie games and I'd like to try a recent Metroidvania. This one looks cool and supports native Linux.

System Shock 1 - Awesome game, played through some of it a few years back but got distracted and didn't finish it. Got the enhanced edition in the sale and I'm keen to play it through.

Horizon Zero Dawn - I love open-world game and this looks amazing. I'm hoping it will go on sale in January, if so I will give it a try.

** Stretch goals: **

Hey, I'm a busy guy! But if I somehow manage to get through all those ones above:

Batman: Arkham City - impulse buy in the recent sale. It has a great reputation and seemed like a steal for $5.

Pillars of Eternity - Another one I bought years ago and started but didn't finish.

What's yours?

I know Ikenfell is on it (unless I decided to try it on computers that don't meet the minimum requirements before than and it somehow works).
I'm planning to try and finish my retro metroidvania site project so a lot of older MVs, but I also want to finally play Pillars of Eternity, Mass Effect and Diablo 3. Also HL1, Homeworld, Jagged 2 and Thief. We'll see what happens, I usually don't stick to a plan for that long when it comes to gaming.

Probably Life is Strange and Higurashi. Can't really think of anything else.. mayyybe Dishonored or and/or one of the Bioshock games?
Colony ship rpg, provided it's released in 2021 and I've got a new computer which can run it.
Also have quite a few games on Gog which my current laptop can't run, e.g. Expeditions: Viking, Deus Ex: Human revolution, The Witcher 2; would play them if I got a new laptop.
Abe's Oddysee (save all mudokons run) as well as the expansion Exodus.

Pharaoh and Cleopatra hopefully

M&B Bannerlord, but need a new rig first.

Ok, that looks interesting. JRPG?

Mass Effect is a great game. One of the great video game plotlines, imo, and the way they gradually 'pull back the curtain' is very well done. Yeah, I don't know how long this plan will hold together. If next year is anything like this year was, we'll see some surprise new releases that disrupt it :-)
ALREADY OWNED:

Witcher 3: WH & Expansion Pass - Had this backlogged forever, but...I really need to buckle down, work on this, and get this one done.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong - I need to get around to this, after having it forever; really liking Shadowrun Return; and loving SR: Dragonrun.

Prey 2017 - Awesome game that I've had on Steam forever. I just...need to finish this up.

Division 1 Season Pass; and Division 2 - I need to play these. Really liked both Beta and need to get moving along on these.

AC Series of games - AC: Syndicate Season Pass; AC: Unity; AC: Origins (Complete); AC: Odyssey are all backlogged and need to be played or finished. Too much AC fatigue, over the years...but, maybe I'll get in the mode to play them, at some point.

Watch Dogs 2 - Been playing this of late, after recently and finally taking on Watch Dogs 1: Bad Blood DLC (really liked that), but would like to get WD2 done before my next PC (with a RTX 3070) arrives, which will have Watch Dogs: Legion with it, as part of an Nvidia promo.

Control: Ultimate - Already played the base-game, but waiting to play the DLC's on my next PC probably (once it arrives)...so I can see how gorgeous it looks with RTX on.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------

NEED / WANT TO BUY:

Red Dead Redemption 2.
Cyberpunk 2077.
Vampire: Bloodlines 2.

I'm sure there's tons more - but this should get the list going.

It does look interesting. Some things I've heard about it:
* There's an option that makes it so that you always get good results when an action command is called for. (Useful for those who don't feel like doing them, or can't do them.)
* There are apparently some LGBTQ characters.
* From the trailer and the GOG page, there appear to be POC characters as well.
Every year I tell myself I should finish Planescape Torment, but procrastination sets in every time. It's totally happening in 2021 though!

The same goes for Final Fantasy XIII. My friend says I have maybe 1-2 hours left, so maybe I'll finally wrap up my playthrough that has lasted several years soon. I just want to get it over with and play its sequels.
After multiple delays, I really should get a new computer towards the end of next year at least, so the playlist then will change drastically if so, Witcher 2 (though I know the controls will really infuriate me) and returning to Divinity 2 (dropped in 2013) likely being at the top of the list from then on. But until then, there are older games, some of which may be a problem to still play after that point. Actually, plenty might be, I have no idea, but assuming I will finish Witch's Wake and therefore finally, finally, all of Neverwinter Nights Diamond this month, I'm still left with hoping I'll get back to King of Dragon Pass (classic) and actually win it. But all attempts were embarrassing failures and last tried in 2015, so not holding my breath about that. Otherwise, out of what I already have installed and started, will probably try to finish Venetica, doing the same for Lords of Xulima being much less likely but I may at least advance a bit more. Otherwise, grabbed Syberia 2 at some point and may get to it, and probably dread the idea but whatever. Also meant to get to Clash soon after I bought it and haven't yet, so that'd be on the list. Past that, stretch goals, and unlikely at that, with me finishing 4-5 games a year, and that's if it's a pretty good year. The list is long and there are priorities on it, but a lot will depend on when I'll upgrade, how this computer will keep working until then, what other oldies I may get by then, which of what I already have I'll learn will be less likely to work well on the new system, and various other things.

An update on Ikenfell: It does not run on my desktop, but it seems to run on my laptop (though note that I didn't get into any fights during my limited testing).
