Why can't I purchase the soundtrack to Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms without also purchasing the game?
Because soundtracks count as DLCs and therefore gog does not let you buy them. People have been complaining about it since the first seperate soundtrack appeared... but until now nothing changed... and probably will not change in any near future.
I suppose that it makes sense that DLC not be purchasable without the core game, but if that's the case then GOG really needs to reclassify soundtracks so as to avoid this completely needless problem.

ask the support, maybe they'll let you buy it then.

I'm pretty sure you can just select that it's a gift and then redeem it to yourself. I'm *pretty* sure.

There was a discussion ages ago where a blue said that they made it that way to lessen support's need to reverse orders b/c the game wasn't owned. But they said (if I remember correctly) that you could gift it to yourself. They made it a bit harder so only "power users" (i.e. competent users) would be able to do it.

But... they've disabled gifting now. I don't know if Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms is amongst the non-giftable games yet, though.

Gifting is allowed, just not across regions, right?

If I click "this item is a gift" or whatever it says, it checks. So I'd imagine it's possible. Not 100% sure though.

Neither Shadows, nor its soundtrack are gift-restricted, for the time being.

Not for these games. GOG doesn't have any regional restrictions but, instead, they have a general gifting restriction imposed on those games. You can't buy any of the games in the list as a gift at all.

doesn't work! you'll be able to buy the gift code, but won't be able to redeem it, as long as you don't own the required base game/games!

You can't gift it to yourself to bypass the restriction. I know this from past experience. Unless they have changed things in the last couple months.
Well, that counts out my idea. Thanks for the update, guys.

Edit : Thanks to Starmaker advice, the weird plan might as well be a bad plan. Better keep doing things the simple way around here after all.

Potzato: There is always the weird plan
Don't do it. Several people, including me, had their friend pages bugged probably due to declining a friend request from a now-deleted spammer. GOG doesn't give the slighest shred of a fuck about the problem. If you end up owning DLC without the base game, your game library just might get similarly FUBARed.

Thanks for the heads up. Fixed my post.
