amok: what if I don't want Syberia 3, Urban Empires or Planet Nomads, I would never play them. How would that help me?
1. Your question was "why anyone would buy those Surprise Games" not "why should I buy those Surprise Games".

2. in this case just don't buy Surprise Games and let enjoy them those who appreciate those sales. I do not buy games on sales with 20% or 30% discount but I do not question the fact that there are people who enjoy those sales.

I now have a policy of waiting for the tracking thread to see what games are included. And if VR Soccer '96, Invictus, or Lionheart show up on that list, I refuse to take a chance on getting stuck with one of those/having to refund them.

houseofdexter: Why do I buy these Surprise Games? I always get games I would never, ever buy. Games average 3stars by the community...and even if it had 4 to 5 stars I probably still wouldn't buy it...Why do I do this to myself. I have yet to get anything I would buy.

So have you gotten a gem in one of these Surprise Games?
You buy them because you never had a chance against the psychological manipulation that makes you want to buy them. It's a deplorable practice, but it's there. Loot boxes suck.
