You get a lot of requests if they think you are a female gamer based on your username. I once created a female-named-forum name with an image of a good friend as my avatar. In that forum, I was constantly bombarded with friend-requests....like 20 a day. Since then, I only post as my true self and never get friend requests! LOL

I never thought about it that way, but this might just be the explanation. I can't remember how many times in my discussions, all of a sudden I've been referred to as a female, and I've had to point out that fact.

Whenever I get a friend request from an unknown newbie account, I always accept and say "hi!", trying to start a conversation. If I get no reply, I just unfriend. Surprisingly I have yet to receive a response from such accounts.
Well, wouldn't it be much weirder if your friends would send you friend requests? It is as if my wife would suddenly tell me "I want to marry you.". WE ARE ALREADY MARRIED, DOOFUS!
I don't mind if they have avatars, but it's the ones without avatars that make me wary. I mean, what rune of virtue are they connected with otherwise?

Considering how many regulars we have around here without them, doesn't seem to be a high priority.

Some forum software have an option that doesn't allow visitors to change them until they have a few posts in. Might be a mindset thing.

So I'll test your example...
