This is extremely common and normal. If you watch 70's stuff you'll see lots of nostalgia for the 50s, like the show "Happy Days" and all the 50s diners that popped up. 90s nostalgia has been in for a while. It's why people get more and more conservative as they get older as well, you long for how things used to be.

I think it's fine to indulge in this to some degree, especially when it's something you genuinely like and prefer like CRPGs for me. It's a constant fight not to get TOO obsessed with it though, otherwise you miss out on the modern stuff you could be enjoying.
Have any of you watched Midnight in Paris? I'd say Woody Allen makes a valid point there.

Orkhepaj: nostalgia is a sickness , you should find a doctor to cure it out
Better go watch Nostalgia Critic. He remembers so you don't have to.
While I generally do feel nostalgic from time to time, I'm apparently more forward focused and don't really dwell on the good ol' times. It seems I have a more adaptive personality, so new things come easily to me and so I get more and more disconnected with the times gone by. But I do cherish the memories, and am completely fine with playing an old game or two, so in the end it's really more of an equilibrium between the two.

What was the point, is there a clip on YouTube for it or something?
