Losing more privacy and freedom to get a small ''security", i pass, If you scare so much about security than leave windows 10 in 2025. They say back in 2015 that it will be the last windows and now they make 11, imagine all peoples who bought new PC to find out that the support for their OS will be stopped in 4 years from now while they were told that they have the last windows and no newer version after it.
Bad for gaming? did you just woke up from 20 years of sleeping? You can run ALL your game on Linux without any problem and without any virtual machine.

Win10 is not good either. I'm switching my second OS (10) to 11 when it's fully stable. Restrictions can easily be bypassed.
Win7 still one love.

many games dont run on linux

All games i tried worked just like in windows, even if some game don't work it does not justify to buy a new PC just to please Microsoft with their restricive requirement. What is the next step with windows 12? the same as Apple with their mac where you can't choose your material just buy what they give you at the price they decide?

I cannot believe even Microsoft could muscle their way through such an insane demand from its users.
Glad I won't be joining the party, even if I can. There's still 0 unplayable Linux games in my game library. Couldn't care less about Fortnite.

So far every info says win 11 is very similar to win 10 inside. We will see what they will accept , TPM 2.0 is probably a must-have.

I've been doing all my gaming in Linux for the last 3 years, both on a desktop and a laptop and I can't complain. It does require some fiddling here and there but it's not "bad" in any way,

Back to SecureBoot where the hardware refuses to boot unless the boot sector is signed and it is booting a known bootloader. If you can turn it off fine, but many systems (like phones) seem like a pain to get around that, and i'd prefer to put my own OS on.
Orkhepaj: if they will make it harder to install/control your apps ill be against it, but so far this is only an assumption from you
and for drm , it is their store , i dont like it , i never purchase there , except this cheap xbox pass Only being able to install signed apps from their store, is quite a limitation. You know that's where they want to go, shove you in a box and only have Microsoft code (or software they pay $5,000 to sign an executable with to make it run...) Sorry, i prefer 'right to repair', which includes being able to switch OSes and do your own software.
I really miss the 8bit days to a degree. You're booted into BASIC and if you wanted you could break it, reboot and it's clean. No limits, full access, just need a little know-how...

You can't have your cake and eat it - unless you program all of your software (/OS) yourself and never want anything that's beyond your abilities.

I'm certain i could get a ARM CPU to tinker with, and make a ROM with a fixed OS as a starter. Honestly, the systems are too large and complicated now, too hard to follow.
When i was a teenager (20 something years ago) that technology may be moving too fast, and if we had to backtrack we wouldn't be able to make use of our technology now.
I don't know. I do know the locked down phones and DRM and legalise and monopolistic practices are annoying. I watch 8bit guy and he shows a system running something akin to QBASIC and running at full speed looks like a professional compiled version of Gauntlet running at the arcade. And you can stop it at any point, look at the sources and modify or study it.

So politely excuse me for not considering anything MS says about security to have any relevance.
