Kinda thought it odd that Witcher 3 GOTY edition isn't something that transfers over from Steam through the wonderful Steam connect.

I bought it on Steam because that was the first place I saw it go to 14.99 and also because I received a 20$ Steam gift card for a recent holiday.

What is the criteria for games that do transfer over? I think I recall both my Banner Saga, Shadow run and Shadow Warrior and knights of pen and paper +1 edition, Grim Dawn , Jotun, Psychonaughts, Grim Fandango and Baldurs gate 1 an2 and other indie games transfering over but not a lot of other games.

Quite a bit of my GoG library is transfered games and free games, and a few purchases like NWN2, Pillars of Eternity and Temple of Elemental Evil, Icewind Dale 2, and Witcher 2.

I think I'm going to buy Witcher 2 on Steam this summer sale so I'll own it in both places because I want achievements. I don't mind playing through that game twice.

I have signed up for the Galaxy 2.0 Beta becausae I'd love to have all of it in one place. Especially since I have games om:

Origin
Ubisoft
Epic
GoG
Steam
Twitch
ect.

Also, why doesn't Witcher 2 have achievements on GoG? I remember it used too at one point.

1. It's "GOG Connect" because it's GOG and the devs doing you a favor, not Steam.

2. The criteria are that devs should agree to it, otherwise GOG would have to pay the dev for each copy they "give away" and go bankrupt.

3. TW3 is not on Connect because it's CDPR's current flagship game. Many people would prefer to have the game on both services, and if GOG and CDPR give away extra GOG copies to Steam buyers, people would prefer to buy on Steam knowing they'd get a free GOG copy soon enough.

^This. I actually hope they won't give GOG copies for steam versions. TW3 was a day 1 GOG pre-order/release so people made their choice.

I think "in one place" is a bit of an overstatement. I think you're going to be disappointed if you're expecting anything more than Galaxy 2.0 starting up other clients.

Very much this. Maybe when CP2077 is ready, like for pre-order, there can be a special W3 Connect event to get people over here. But really I think CDPR should wait a while longer before Connecting W3.

I already run multiple clients and I don't mind that so much.

But having one library with all games listed? That would be very handy. We'll see how they implement it, but there isn't a whole lot of competition out there for the idea.

Yes and who knows, someday they might fix Steam's offline mode.

I understand this isn't Steam doing me a favor, what company would give games to its direct competition.

I just had Steam bucks and I guess I'll just own it there.

Pretty much, it would be either CDPR or GOG doing you the favor. Hopefully, they eventually allow you to connect it over here.
