I saw the Lord Of The Rings tv show post, and it reminded me of the Witcher TV series. I looked for a release date, and did not find one. Does anyone know when it will be released? After playing the games, I would be interested in seeing the series and what how they present it.

I don't think there's a release date yet. Also, keep in mind that the show is adapting the books, and is not associated with the games or CD Projekt.
A quick google says it;s still in development. That usually means any where fro 6 months to (insert evil laughter here.)

Used to ring a bell for salvation army at a local mall where a national tupperware-like (I can't think of the name) chain had signed to become an out parcel at the mall. Next day folks were asking where it was since "it was in the news as being open". Took them just under 2 years to build the place.

edit: That's not directed to the poster, it's just a some what funny tale.

The pilot doesn't look very promising.

Platique Image is involved, who did the (IMO terrific) CGI-scenes and trailers for the witcher games too.

Well yeah, but that's sort of like having ILM do your special effects - doesn't mean you have the rights to Star Wars.

Then again ILM made special effects for Star Trek First Contact and there was the Millenium Falcon in that... dammit, I had a point and I lost it.

LOL.. but I think it's a difference anyway. ILM is for the most part - a professional contractor for most things - they will produce shit of they are required to. Platique is a lot deeper into the thing - don't underestimate Polish national pride - before they betray "Their Geralt" they would rather quit the project (like sadly, but predictably grumpy old man Sapkowki did already).

I never said anything about "betrayal", I just mean that the show isn't associated with the games, so it's not going to follow those stories, isn't obliged to fit with whatever those games establish or with their visual style or character designs. A lot of people associated The Witcher with the games first (or only with the games) so they tend to have the wrong idea about the upcoming show.

I know what you mean. In the end we can just wait and see.

You can try and read the books while you wait.
