Xseed Games has come under fire for its company policy on removing former members of staff from game credits, regardless of how much work they put into a product.

Brittany Avery, who worked in various roles at the firm from 2011 to 2018, reported via Twitter that she has been removed from the ending credits for the PS4 version of the original Cold Steel, and expects the same will be true of II.

The backlash over this prompted a tweet from Xseed clarifying it's position.

"We appreciate the hard work of everyone who contributes to our releases, but it is and always has been company policy that only current members of our staff are credited.

Scummy: XSEED Removes People From Game Credits If They Leave The Company

in short: Xseed owner is scummy.
How is the company justifying this? ''We've always done it'' is not an argument.
thats total bs. credit for work done is a given, not something to be changed due to a human resource roster of any given time. so if the company goes under, will all credits be removed entirely? I dont even understand where they are coming from other than a bitchy fu to old personnel who leave for whatever reason. ill just pass on their games
stop buying their games then, I guess, as long as they know why you aren't buying their games. or only buy them at a deep discount or something
That is quite... something...
That is boycott levels of dickish behavior.
Isn't that the same thing Rockstar does? I can't understand how it's been accepted until now, credits exist precisely to show who has worked on a product. It's as if for the credits of a movie the names of all those who no longer work for the company that produced it are cancelled, it's absolutely ridiculous.
Immaculate production.
Sounds like Konami level bullshit, i even have all their games except Zwei and Corpse Party here and certainly didn't foresee this crap.

What was the impetus to bring it up now?
Why is the OP posting this now? This is old news. Just check out on the date on the Jim Sterling video, for example.

As for the point: yes, this is undoubtedly a scummy policy on XSEED's part.

However, at least XSEED is way better than NISA. For example, XSEED doesn't censor the crap of out their games in order to appease ResetEra-type people, whereas NISA does. XSEED tends not to censor anything, which is as it should be.

And XSEED also almost always gives Achievements to their GOG versions of their games, whereas NISA, as of yet, never does.

So given that NISA is far more scummy than XSEED, I have a hard time fully condemning XSEED, despite their awful policy of stripping credits from those who rightfully hold them.
That's a laughably lousy policy but wouldn't make me boycott here. Downvote if you like, but I want to see big DRM-free releases do well here.

Bring change to horrible companies.
As mentioned it's pretty old news, while it's a pretty weird policy, and IIRC it was only for "new" version of the games (e.g. the PS4 version of a game previously released on PSP), they are not being patched out of already released games. I don't know how it is in game industry, but as a developper it something quite common, usually the "about" section only contains the current devs and not all those who ever worked on the program, that is when they are listed at all.
