This was dumb. I couldn't even see Merica.

(really, I can't see it now, but I'll have to see it later. I saw one of Europe's borders during WWII that was really neat. This should be a good watch.)

dr.zli: lies, we all know Serbia occupied most of the europe during all these years :D
And some parts of Tokio.
Interesting, but the maps and year numbers aren't in sync. The Wehrmacht is still in Russia in the early 50s.

I'm laughing but the situation is grim, elections are over and ex nationalists are back in power, I feel like it's 90s all over again :S

Heh. It can't possibly be worse than the last time, eh?

[starts sweating a bit]
I had no idea that the Lithuanians had been so powerful, I mean what's that all about, now they're like this tiny country that people rarely think about.

BranjoHello: Maybe in Europa Universalis. :D
Well, it's far from "most of Europe", but we're getting there!

Interesting viewing - thank you. I wonder what it'll look like in the next 10, 50 and 100 years.
I remember when I loved in Georgia the school I taught at had a big mural in dedication to a holy site which used to be in Georgian control but is now in modern day Turkey. People still seemed deeply upset about it, even centuries later. It's so weird to think of how lines on a map impact people so much. In America we really have none of that, so it was pretty eye-opening.
Great video +rep
Interesting, but am unsure of point and timing.

tinyE: Have those bookstores really been around that long?
I miss those stores... To endure for a thousand years only for five years with no profit to just kill them...
Proves that wars are fought for very little long term gain...

amok: A short animation showing how the European borders have changed over the last 1000 years

Impressive!
What software was used to generate this map and catalog all the changes?
