MichaelPalin: Really? I have only played 1 and 2 and my impression is that aliens are just an eastern egg, nothing related to the plot at all.
Well the alien blaster is an established weapon in both Fallout and Fallout 2. There was also the saucer easter egg you point out. It's clear someone at Bethesda thought it would be a good idea to explore that hook but it just failed dismally. The Wild Wasteland encounter in New Vegas was much better and more in keeping with the easter egg nature. No Wild Wasteland perk? You never see it.

Aningan: Don't forget Piranha Bytes with Risen 2 as players in the RPG market. The release date was kept a secret so far, but it might be sometimes this year.

Delixe: Yes I forgot Risen 2. It will be interesting if they release it this year. I suspect they might delay it though. Too early this year and it goes up against The Witcher 2, too late and it's got Skyrim to contend with that leaves a very small window around August/September if they want to release this year.
Risen2 will be the only RPG, apart from TW2, i'm gonna buy this year. After the Oblivion fiasco i've lost any faith in Bethesda. Coudn't care less about Skyrim.

The Two Worlds II sky pirate themed expansion is coming out at that time. Probably not real competition for the whole game of Risen, but I am still looking forward to it.

StingingVelvet: It is in the game, I said they censored it. From the Fallout wiki: "The human voice is completely silent. The only audio is that of the Alien babbling."

RatherDashing: I was certain I heard it in-game. It has only been two years. What, am I getting old already? O_o
It's still scary the intent was there, but at least they reconsidered before release.

Summit: Coudn't care less about Skyrim.
And what if Skyrim is actually good? You would be missing a good Elder Scrolls. I know what I'm talking about, because I was very reluctant to play Call of Pripyat after the fiasco that was Clear Sky. Then I played Call of Pripyat and became multiorgasmic for a couple of weeks. Developers can rectify.

Indeed, and Fallout 3 was a massive improvement if you ask me. It still had issues of course, especially in the writing and choice and consequence, but it was a good recovery from Oblivion's open world hack n' slash gameplay.

Todd Howard had lots of good things to say about Obsidian and the way they write games. Skyrim is using a perk system introduced in FO3 and refined in New Vegas. It's fair to say Bethesda know where they went wrong with Fallout 3 and Oblivion and that's the reason they brought Obsidian in to work on New Vegas. I'm excited about Skyrim because I think it will be Bethesda realeasing a game they have learned a lot about making.

If this is true, the whole register to patch thing makes a ton more sense.

I'm not going to boycott the game, that's for sure. If it turns out to be any good (and i mean by "RPG codex standards" good) i'll propably end up buying it at some point. It's just that i'm not anticipating it like TW2 or Risen 2. As far as i'm concerned i would't be missing anything if they rescheduled it for another 3 years.

If Bethesda and Obsidian had merged together i would have bought any game they made in a heartbeat. I just don't think that Bethesda is capable to come up with any good story or writing.

Then maybe it should be Bethesda and Bioware lol. Since bioware is always known for their epic writing.
