The directXwindower program seems to have done that already- check some threads at SimHQ.
Jel
Just today I finally got some setting for the windower that actually work. I can now run it in a windowed mode..finally.
But hopefully a fix will be found that will allow me to Run EAW in glorious Full Screen mode again.
That the windower works might be the clue that leads to the final solution of this problem, though.

Anyway, with my backlog of games, for me the only Atari "instant buy" I can think of is Shadow Warrior...
Reviews were pretty mixed from what I remember (most of the complaints centered around the graphics being pretty shoddy on all but the most powerful PC's, which is thankfully not a problem anymore)
It did some good coverage, most notably: http://au.gamespot.com/pc/adventure/outcast/index.html?tag=result;title;2

Independence War, please ! please ! please !
I still have my boxed version on my desk (great packaging btw), but I did not manage to make it work on XP, seven, or even wine. I would really like to play it again, and maybe even play the add-on which I never had a chance to play.
I-War 2 is a good game too, but my boxed version plays fine on XP.

I used to make maps for this game. Had a great, small, dedicated community of map converters and mod writers. And it was hella fun.

I very much agree. They did make a new game, that with its expansion was much like Master of Magic, but still not the same. So much so I still prefer to play the original. Games like this, UFO, Dungeon Keeper, Syndicate and many of the games here on GoG are games that set standards that todays game developers just cant keep up with.
Since the focus is so much on graphics, sound and music these days, it seems they just cannot make as much content in games as they did in the good old days. Master of Magic seems to top this, with so many spells I still probably haven't even used half of them yet. And the possibilities for how to play the game was almost endless. You could go for summoning creatures using magic, and focus towns on growing big early. Or use magic to speed up the production of your towns and thereby get more time to produce units. And it was always fun to make the ultimate hero with insane magic weapons, armor and shield.
I hope a deal with be made with EA or whoever has the license for Bullfrog games these days. I have been playing Syndicate wars, but have not completed it yet, but after getting used to its controls it is truly a great game. First game I know of where whole buildings can be destroyed.

I'm not going to go thru all 13 or so pages tonight, but I need to remember if I requested the RollerCoaster Tycoon games. If I'm repeating myself there, sorry. Just 1 & 2 would be awesome, but I won't hold my breath that they won't bring on RCT3 for yukks and giggles.
The only other games I'd want to see Atari-wise are the Backyard Sports games from Humongous Entertainment. Those are fun, arcade-y style sports games that I like (especially the baseball and football ones).

Well after all the praise here, I decided to install the Outcast CD version I had lying around (bought from a friend for $1 some time ago.)
The game surprised me by actually running, and only crashing after I killed the first couple hostiles in the place the portal took me. However I keep getting the "Bad Audio Track" error on start up, meaning I gotta play without music.
Googling turned up lots of stuff about turning off CPU cores and slowing the remaining one down, etc. Don't really feel like doing anything yet. If GOG fixes all the issues and includes music in their version, I might just get that :). Higher res would be great too. My monitor doesn't support anything lower than 640x480, so have to run it in a 512x384 window in a 640x480 full screen....
Edit: Hey, I got music to work! Maybe all it needed was setting affinity to single core and running in Win 2000 compatibility mode? However wading through that green swamp-like water is really slow, but in a youtube video I saw the guy run through it like on dry land. Bug, or am I missing something?

Hopefully Master of Magic will be patched to version 1.31,since the original release was notorious for being a potentially great game that was badly hurt by an very buggy first release.

Bring back the Wheel of Time game, it needs a coding upgrade to work on new computers, and they're libel to start new media with it soon if the new movie rumors are true so a redo is right on time.
