Holy crap. Holy crap holy crap holy crap holy crap. HOLY CRAP. It may even beat Titanic!
Good for them. Hopefully that means we'll see the rest of trilogy it's alleged to be a part of.
I finally got to see it in 3D yesterday and while some parts of it were really impressive, a lot of it just seemed like normal 2D to me. The only thing that really annoyed me (and perhaps is the cause of a lot of it looking 2D), was the subtitles that were for the most part always projected to the outermost plane.
Well, I FINALLY got IMAX 3D tickets to see Avatar. Sadly not until the 31st.

Does the IMAX 3D system differ to XpanD 3D system (which is the system used at the only cinema near us which offers 3D)?

No idea, but I do know it seems to be some homegrown 3D system that is used all over China.

Well, let us know what it's like once you see it. The best way I can describe XpanD is that it uses layers in an attempt to create depth of field. It works fairly well in some places, such as when viewing scenes within the Scorpions or when seeing the computer displays within the control rooms, but it tends to look a little too 2 dimensional for other scenes. Much like those pseudo 3D "holographic" pictures that used as DVD covers for some special edition DVDs.
