I'm sure I'm not unique in this, but I love character creation in RPGs. I will spend hours and hours looking over all the options, even pre-planning what I would like on paper (based on the manual or previous experience) before I even launch the game! This especially applies to 'old favourites', I'll often pre-plan new builds I haven't tried before.
Thanks Charon121!
When Baldur's Gate 2 was new, I spent boring classes at school planning my party composition on paper just like you do, choosing which companions I'd recruit in the course of my adventure based on the class I'd pick for that particular playthrough, so that I have the optimal party composition. I even made a list of what key pieces of equipment I'll encounter for my particular class in which part of the game.
Then I learned about Wizardry 8, and that took my party planning to a whole new level. :D
