It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hey all! I'm hosting a contest to find me some stuff I need.
I need some good calendar software for WinXP to use at work. It needs to have the ability to save notes on any given date, and preferably ways to organize / keep track of notes within the same day, week, and month at least. For example by categories. Obviously it also needs to save the notes for all posteriority, preferabily with an easy backup scheme but if that doesn't exist, just some files that I can copy somewhere else for backup.
Sort of an almanac program, with some added features to help organize what you write down better. It should be an actual program, not a webtool.
The software does not necessarily need to be free (although I reckon free software for this should exist), but I won't pay $129.99 for it either.
Winnar will receive 5x[Shiny Rep Point].

Lightning or Sunbird.
Lightning if you use Thunderbird. Sunbird for a standalone program.

The one suggestion i can think of is to try out Mozilla Sunbird, either as a stand-alone application or as an add-on to the Thunderbird mail client (though under the name "Lightning").
Edit: Ninja'd! :-(

:P
Why are you paying for work software? Tell them to stop being cheap pricks and buy you a copy of outlook
Failing that, doesn't outlook express have a basic organiser?
I am not using outlook. :P
They (as in, my employer) will pay for it eventually, but I just field the expense to begin with, then get it refunded on next month's paycheck.
Hence, it is in my (and my employers) interest to keep the cost low, free if atall possible.
The Lightning app looks really nice. Will check it out when I got some time later today. It's actually a good thing that it ties in with the email client directly, I hadn't thought of that.

I use Thinking Rock for that. (combined with sunbird, but the input from that is minimal)

Try Railendar2. It's free, easy to use and consumes less memory and CPU than the most!!!
If you use Thunderbird, ReminderFox is a nice little extension as well, I like that it is lives in the Thuderbird taskbar and has some nice options and really fast to use. It's not a calendar program by any means but . . . worth trying.
Edit: It seems the Dev wants a $5 donation now but it's still free . . . donation optional, feel bad now guess I need to donate since he wasn't asking back then . . .=)
